I didn't forget
I didn't forget that gays can't marry or serve openly. Nor have I forgotten our shameful use of torture. Or the wars. Health care being a mess. Poverty. And too many other issues I feel are core to us improving our country.

Some weeks back my X was really sick and went to the hospital. I was worried, had my daughter for the night, took day off work.

And still, distracted as I was, those core issues are still there. They are a part of who I am.

Flu, susan boyle, latest news of the day or week that people are chattering about around the water cooler at work - those things are new news (it is rather fluid you know) and can all grab attention and generate much discussion. But then perhaps they should - because I already KNOW where I stand on other events/issues. I don't need another story of someone getting screwed over (see my thread about the Transsexual who won a lawsuit today http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=389x5563816 ) to get my ire up even more of the injustices I know exist.

No matter the topic of the day, no matter how much it is commented on, posts made about it, news on the msm, I didn't forget what it is I stand for and believe in.

Despite what some may here think about posting about the 'shiny object of the day' I believe most people here are very much the same.

We will stand for what is right, we won't forget, but sometimes we just need a little something else to vent about or discuss - if for no other reason than to keep ourselves sane and to prevent us from beating our heads on our keyboards wondering why the issues we see as core to our beliefs are not yet resolved.

So for those who get discouraged and think maybe we forgot the things you hold near and dear. I don't think we did.

I'll be right there for you and your issues. Even if I am not posting everyday about them.

Live long. Prosper. Wash your hands. Watch Susan Boyle on Youtube :)

I will light the match this mornin, so I won't be alone
Watch as she lies silent, for soon night will be gone
Oh, I will stand arms outstretched, pretend I'm free to roam
Oh, I will make my way, through, one more day in hell...
How much difference does it make
How much difference does it make, yeah...

I will hold the candle till it burns up my arm
Oh, I'll keep takin punches until their will grows tired
Oh, I will stare the sun down until my eyes go blind hey,
I won't change direction, and I won't change my mind
How much difference does it make
Mmm, how much difference does it make...how much difference...

I'll swallow poison, until I grow immune
I will scream my lungs
out till it fills this room
How much difference
How much difference
How much difference does it make
How much difference does it make

2. That's a good post TSS
More than anything else, this is a great and tight knit community.
We like hugs here and we know that when needed - we rally around a cause.

And we like you too.

3. There are basics for people, good, sentient people,
and they are not forgotten. Not ever. Yeah, some of us might go off on Octomom or the latest bit of gossip about some celebrity, but silliness is vital - and fun. It's not a zero sum game - there's lots of room in our heads and in our hearts for all sorts of things, and some of us never quit. Some of us never take our eyes off the prize.

And, as best we can, we keep making noise, we keep moving forward. We keep doing the best we can.

No, we don't forget. Not ever..............................

4. See, now I thought this one was about me.
Working 50-60 hours and taking classes for solar design. This will be my only day on DU for a month.

Great post. K&R
