They supported Reagan on a national level but still voted for Democrats on a state and local level.

5. Are they still around?
My understanding of Reagan democrats is that they were culturally conservative, economically liberal working class people in their 40s and 50s. But Reagan was elected 29 years ago. The Reagan democrats are all in their 70s and 80s now.

I know many people who vote Democrat on the local and state level but voted for Bush and McCain out of (misguided) national security concerns. Some are elderly, yes.
