I didn't think the comment sounded THAT bad in context, but yes, boneheaded giving the frenzy that the media has whipped up.

2. Why not completely close the borders?

Air travel is in many ways the least of the problem. Thousands of people walk across the U.S. - Mexico border every single day.

I am not advocating closing borders, by the way. I think it's a stupid idea and a ridiculous overreaction to a relatively mild flu outbreak.
