Poll question: So whatever! Tragedy is cute!

http://wonkette.com/408182/fema-censors-weird-911-coloring-book-for-kids

For god knows how many years, the evil shadow government FEMA had this weird terror-coloring booklet, for kids, available as a fun PDF download. Then, due to …. hmm, body bags? Domestic concentration camps? Formaldehyde trailers? Black Oil? Bees? Let’s say bees ….

Due to the bees, FEMA has now censored itself and the whimsical coloring book of 9/11 plus the dreaded “laptop tornado” can no longer be downloaded

1. If they had that Katrina feature, it wouldn't be half bad;)

so when does "fly by" guy get fired. That's the first thing when I saw that pic - how totally
deranged that fly over NYC was. But, hey, there's no success like failure in our nation's capitol.

2. "FEMA's 9/11 Coloring Book Aims to Teach Kids About Tragedy"...
http://abcnews.go.com/Health/story?id=7462652&page=1

Marla Brassard, an associate professor of psychology and education at the Teacher's College at Columbia University in New York, said that she saw nothing wrong with the images depicted in "A Scary Thing Happened."

"Kids who have been through a hurricane or a terrorist event or a car wreck are going to have seen much worse than what they're coloring in the book," said Brassard.

"I certainly don't think this will be frightening to kids," said Brassard. "That's a false worry.

<snip>

Olmsted added she hopes FEMA decides to re-post the children's book.

"I believe it's an excellent recourse if used properly with children and I would still argue that it's a useful tool with kids who have been traumatized," she said.

Wow, a Crisis Response Team creates a tool for helping young kids cope with disasters. How wierd is that?

4. The book was originally published in 2003...
as a tool for kids in Minnesota to help deal with a tornado that touched down. It is not solely about 9/11.

Perhaps you should

GET YOUR FUCKING FACTS STRAIGHT!

6. What, like the fact that the book was written in 2003...
by a country crisis team in Minnesota, to help kids deal with the aftermath of a tornado? That fact?

Or the fact that the book was written by 2 therapists and an illustrator? That fact?

Or the fact that the book is not soley about 9/11? That fact?

Or the fact that the book has been used by communities around the world, to help kids deal with disaster? That fact?

All I see from you is a factless, snarky wonkette blog post, and a tasteless poll mocking a "useful tool" that helps kids cope with tragedy.

Oh, and edit, after edit, after edit on your posts.

Sid

10. As a baby boomer, I now feel cheated that I never got a
"When Presidents are assassinated" coloring book.Who knows what damage could have been avoided if only we could have colored our fears away.
