Wow...still another nation more progressive than the U.S.

I was doing my usual checking of blogs this morning and noticed someone posted a commercial from Argentina for a bank at PamsHouseblend.com . . .yeah, I know (a bank). . . but I was struck by how far this advertisement went with depicting (in a positive manner) a transgender individual. It's a far cry from the "bathroom" hysteria gripping the American political scene, where right wing faux "moralists" attempt to frame the rights of citizens based on their use of public bathrooms.

This country should be highly embarassed, both in how easily it has let the GOP years completely ruin the image of our nation as a welcoming, accepting land - instead, we are increasingly depicted as a mean, bitter, paranoid collection of phony religionist moralists in constant fear of losing power. And in doing so, we appear as increasingly hostile to human rights as some of the repressive societies we used to claim to oppose. . .how did that all happen?

Anyway, take a quick look at this commercial from Argentina. Can you even imagine something like this playing in the United States?

2. No, I can't imagine that
Not just for the content, but the overall theme. While there's no way in hell any US company would ever portray a transgendered person in their commercial, I find it equally hard to believe that any would put that much effort into any sort of positivity or message. We're pretty much stuck with raw marketing and consumerism.

I'd like to see either standard broken more often.

4. It's even interesting to see how the business portrayed itself
as interested in the lives of individuals. . .and far more sincerely than the commercial messages we get in the U.S.
