Laugh my old fat azz off!
Republican Party plans comeback

Rep. Eric Cantor says the new council is an opportunity for GOP leaders to have a "two-way conversation" with the public.

(CNN) -- Bruised by charges from Democrats that they've become the "party of no," Republicans on Thursday are launching an outreach effort to reshape their party's image.

The initiative, called the National Council for a New America, will send party leaders across the country for a series of town halls on health care, the economy, energy and national security.

The goal is for the council's panel of experts to listen to the American people and report back to House and Senate Republican leaders with new strategies for rehabilitating the party and winning elections in 2010.

"The National Council for New America is not so much a rebranding effort. It is an opportunity for those of us in office to engage in a conversation, a two-way conversation with the people of this country," said Rep. Eric Cantor, the No. 2 Republican in the House.

How fucking novel: Listen to what people have to say and hold Town Hall meetings!

I guess imitation IS the highest form of flattery!

1. This shows me just how desperate they are. They STILL can't
come up with any independent ideas of their own, so now they're taking it to the people? And, oh, Democrats are invited, too!

2. A series of town hall meetings?
Boooossshhh already did that. They'll screen for admission, throw out or arrest anyone who sneaks in without drinking adequate Kool-Aid, and they'll discover--much to their surprise(ha!) and gratification--that the "public" really likes a universe where the only answers to all questions are either "no," "tax cuts," or "Jeeezzuz."

3. The imagery that brings forth..
is disturbing. Tea-baggers at a Q&A. Unfortunately I can imagine the questions, and I don't want to hear the answers.

they will, of course, be seated in the rear of the hall.

It's afterward, at the private luncheon, when they'll be placed at the table next to the kitchen door.

9. It's a way to dump the fundies and freepers and try to get a more main stream type of voter base.
They are a regional party with only fundies and freeper types as members and that is a losing combination. They need to build a new base made up of moderate voters and leave the wing nut contingent to fend for themselves.

12. There will be no one left if they dump the fundies and freepers.
If they think a new base is going to miraculously appear, they need to share what they're smoking. Especially with no apparent ideas of their own. They're asking for talking points? Who'd waste their time?

11. Taking it to the people might get you really bruised.
Not to mention you might get the shock of your life as some shoes are thrown at you.

I hope they do take it to the people.

22. Why don't they prove it by talking to the president, first.
If they won't talk with the president of the US and reach a consensus, why do we think they'll talk to anyone else?
What do they have to offer independents and the rest of the US--nothing but words based on empty promises, bigotry and greed.
