She confirms that group paid for Miss California’s breast enhancement

LOS ANGELES — Shanna Moakler, co-executive director of the Miss California Organization, has confirmed the group behind the pageant paid for Miss California Carrie Prejean’s breast implants, weeks before she competed in Miss USA.

“It was something that we all spoke about together,” Shanna said referring to herself, Carrie and Keith Lewis, Shanna's co-executive director. “It was an option and she wanted it. And we supported that decision.”

Shanna, a former Miss USA herself, defended the Miss California Organization’s decision to pay for the elective surgery.

“Breast implants in pageants is not a rarity. It’s definitely not taboo. It’s very common. Breast implants today among young women today is very common. I don’t personally have them, but you know — they are,” she added.

Shanna supported Carrie’s plastic surgery, however, she had a hard time standing behind Carrie’s opinion against gay marriage in her answer to a question from Perez Hilton during the Q&A portion of the Miss USA competition.

“The night of the show, I wrote Carrie and I congratulated Carrie and I also told her her answer, for me, did hurt feelings,” Shanna told Billy.

Since one of the criteria of the pageant is how smokin' the "scholarship candidates" look in a swim suit, then it's basically cheating for the people running the competition to help one of the contestants to... um... "bubble in the answers."

How can his be? If she, or a private sponsor/benefactor had paid for them, and they're not forbidden by pageant rules, I wouldn't care. But how do the organizers of the pageant justify giving implants to one contestant and not the others? What's their measurement cutoff point? Is there a quota? Also, whose idea was it--was Prejean approached by the pageant officials with a "proposition," or did she approach them with a "request"? It's BEYOND cheating--and entirely new dimension to the concept of affirmative action.

to have the boobs for the USA pageant--not for one contestant in the state pageant to have them while other contestants in that pageant did not. Other STATES could have done the same for their own Representatie contestantss (and quite possibly did), so it wouldn't be unfair in that sense.

and even if it was the state pageant's idea, Prejean either should have paid for the implants herself or found financial support elsewhere. This adds the stench of collusion between the pageants to the whole thing.
