Don't be too quick to write off the Republican Party. They still have a big chunk of the MSM behind them, they have Faux News, and they have lobbyists who are paid millions by corporations who want Republicans in power.

Too bad they're not vampires. We could bury them permanently by driving stakes through their hearts --- umm, make that chests.

Forget any fantasies you have that these people will just go away. About 1/3 of the country still backs them (out of greed or ignorance). And let's not forget that McCain lost the election by only about six million (popular) votes.

As grotesque as the Republican Party has become there are factors we can't ignore. For example, Americans voted for St. Ronnie twice. They allowed Bush to steal the White House twice without taking to the streets with pitchforks. They can't seem to associate paying taxes with having police and fire depts, a modern infrastructure, clean air and water, safe food and drugs, air traffic controllers and too many other things to list here.

Here's my point. Far too many voters are dumber than spit. They'll buy whatever line of bullshit is being sold by any con man who steps up to the microphone. And they'll vote against their own interests because they don't know any better.

Don't count the Republicans out. Like the cyborg that Schwarzenegger played in "The Terminator," they'll be back.

1. More like cockroaches.
Step on them, lift your shoe, and off they run.

2. Absolutely right!
The triumphalism I've seen around here worries me.

Eternal vigilance...

6. Well, they may be back but they are going to need some new blood
their bullshit isn't working anymore. They are going to have to stop bashing the opposition and come up with some legitimate ideas themselves. For the time being though, it's pure joy to watch them run around throwing everything in their sight at the wall hoping it's going to stick.

Plus after Bachmann's hilarious faux pas yesterday they are all going to need to go back to high school and learn some history.

7. They've been throwing the same crap at the wall for 30 years and it's worked
I really believe the reason they finally lost was because of almost universal hatred for Bush and an economy in the toilet.

But they are still throwing the same crap at the wall. And if the economy improves a bit, and they can find a somewhat non-obnoxious candidate, I really think they can make a comeback.

And that's about as sad a scenario as any sane person can imagine.

9. they put me in mind of the Kathy Bates character in Misery
James Caan finally bashes her with an antique typewriter weighing as much as a bathtub, after a brawl that seems to last to infinity and beyond, involving bludgeonings, stabbings, gougings and shootings ... and even when it seems she absolutely must be dead, finally, she STILL pops out again. It's never pleasant to encounter this level of dedication and industry in a psychopath or a political party.

10. Yep. Same as "Fatal Attraction" with Michael Douglas and Glen Close.
She's beaten and even drowned. Yet Sheee's Baaack.

It's really, really hard to get rid of psychos, roaches and Republicans.
