Hell, it was bad form when at FDR's funeral service in the East Room, NO ONE stood up when President Truman walked in but EVERYBODY stood up when Eleanor did.

A president is a president. You stand for one or all. Or get your ass fried for being biased.

3. They are different events.
Obama wasn't expected at the WH briefing. Bush's event was some sort of planned speech or press conference. I don't know if that makes a different, but that's the obvious difference.

4. That might explain it. The press treating the two prezes differently would be nothing to celebrate.
