CBS News Crew Thrown Out of Philadelphia VA
Two CBS 3 staffers were detained Thursday by officers assigned to the Veterans Administration Hospital (39th * Woodland) for videotaping without permission.

The pair were caught "in an area of the nursing facility where they were not allowed to be" Rich Manieri,U.S. Attorney's office spokesman ,told us Friday.

A female photographer was fined $150 for disorderedly conduct after putting up some sort of struggle when confronted , and was also fined $50 for trespassing and $50 for unauthorized photography.

1. Without knowing more of the background, I'd say they were violating privacy rules...
I believe you have to have explicit permission to film patients.

4. They where undercover to see if the problems reported where true

5. That would be a little different, yes. But getting caught would allow privacy rules to be applied.
It'll be interesting to see their report on what they did get on film or witness.

2. I did some research there back in 1997!
Your typical VA. So, sad. So many were dependant on it.

It was not nearly as run down as Walter Reed, I can assure you that. I visited Walter Reed in 1996- and I was very surprised by the 'antiquity' of the place!
