Prices of gas at a neighborhood station on Saturday evening, Sunday, and today, respectively.

And a few blocks away, at a busy intersection and close to a freeway entrance, same chain had a price posted of 2.35.

What happened?

On the other hand, last month we visited Italy and while riding next to a gas station, it was about 1.1 Euros per liter which, by my calculation is about $5.5 a gallon. But then, they have a great public transportation..

3. changeover to 'summer' formulation...?

if you're in a major metro area like the one here- they have to sell a different gasoline formulation in the summer months, and the refiners contend that it's more expensive to brew.
