5. I doubt GM will move
Edited on Mon May-11-09 11:01 PM by blue_onyx
I see a move to Warren, MI as the most likely option. I don't see a benefit to leaving Michigan.

10. Detroit and Michigan would also start throwing concessions
Losing GM would devastate our state so I bet our elected officials would give GM just about anything to prevent a move. This "GM might move" comment made by the CEO is probably just leverage to get more tax breaks/government assistance.

11. My guess is somewhere in the South! You know...those states
that still reject unions!

I want to know why they want to leave Michigan? The trained workers are there. Most of the suppliers are close by. It's located more or less in the center of the country so distribution is centrally located. If they're only talking about relocating their headquarters, it's always better to have your hdq. close to your primary mfg. ops. Why are they moving?

12. They aren't moving...
The CEO, when asked if leaving the Renaissance Center (the headquarters) was possible, he said GM has no plan to move but all options are on the table. It's possible GM could move but I don't see a big enough benefit to moving.

They are the most solidly Red State, and they could use the excuse that they are using Houston's port.
