I just thought I'd ask because it seems that whatever side of aisle one may be on - both sides KNOW the MSM is full of hot gas.

1. Yes. They also know conflict drives ratings more than good journalism does.
People who think the MSM is totally biased for one side or the other are far more likely to watch MSNBC's or FNC's evening lineup than they are to watch NewsHour.

2. They dont care
They cash their ridiculously extravagant paychecks, drive their Porsche or BMW into their little exclusive gated community, then laugh their asses off at what the rest of us think.

5. I don't think they care. They are buffered from us by their owners
and their owners' investors. We're 'way far down on the food chain. If their alternate reality gets funded, who cares about us?

8. The general population is of little consequence to them.. They are
more interested in getting invited to the "right" parties in the beltway.

10. Perhaps the greatest audience is in the middle
so if the right and left both don't like it, then the MSM is right on track to get the big audience and the big advertising revenue.

20. I think as individuals they repress it.
Every once in awhile reality breaks through but they beat it back down with prescription drugs and alcohol.

14. It's about the paychecks & the perks.. They don't "do" the news anyway
Edited on Mon May-18-09 05:15 PM by SoCalDem
They are "on-air personalities".. they read a teleprompter, and have someone talking in their earpiece, giving them directions.

The only "news" people left are the on-the-scene- reporters who are "given" 30-45 seconds to sum up ..and then are sent on their way again, because somewhere, a building's being imploded by a demolition team, or a squrrel is waterskiing, or some loser has stolen a car, and is driving on a sidewalk....

16. they don't sell the truth. they sell air time for ads. that's all they care about.
if they filled a "news" program with 100% fiction, as long as it were compelling enough to bring enough eyeballs to advertisers, they would do it. this pretty much describes fauxsnooze, anyway.

21. People just buy the news they want to believe is true
for awhile it seems academic journalism had convinced people that the news could be unbiased. that is certainly changing.
