Tweety: Obama, unlike Bush, appreciates culture, GOP never compained about frequent Bush trips to TX
MSNBC's Chris Matthews went off on the GOP Tuesday night, whacking the Republican National Committee for trying to stir up outrage over the Obamas' recent date in New York.

The RNC seized on the excursion, which included dinner and a Broadway show, as a wasteful indulgence.

"As President Obama prepares to wing into Manhattan's theater district on Air Force One to take in a Broadway show, GM is preparing to file bankruptcy and families across America continue to struggle to pay their bills," read their "Research Piece," titled "Putting On A Show."

"If President Obama wants to go to the theater, isn't the Presidential box at the Kennedy Center good enough?" added RNC spokeswoman Gail Gitcho.

Matthews called the attack a "cheap shot" and the trip as a sign that the president, unlike his predecessor, appreciates culture. He pointed out that the Republicans never complained about President Bush's frequent trips to Texas. "This is the kind of pissant criticism that makes you wonder why Michael Steele still has his job," Matthews exclaimed. "Is this jealousy, or just nincompoop anti-intellectualism?"

2. Perhaps even the Republicans were glad to see Bush
leave Washington for a few days. That way they could do their dirt and than surprise Bush when he came back. Since he was not the real power, he could not change things when he came back.

5. I may not agree with Mr. Obama about many things, but...
This is just utter nonsense. Mr. Obama is the president. He is entitled to use the plane, as were his predecessors. The Republicans have no call to complain, considering they never seemed to have issues with Mr. Bush doing whatever it was that he did.

And, in the immortal words of Mr. Bush...

"Now watch this drive."

6. If I'm not mistaken, the Obama's in New York City are publicity that
this country still works. Hell, the Republicans don't understand that people need to spend money to get the economy rolling. They think that the economy is rolling when the wealthy are counting their money! Lets pay some decent wages so that everyone can go to a show in New York City.

9. Tweety is full of it
Remember when Bush supposedly fell out of his chair because of a "pretzel" while watching football? I remember Matthews going on about the fact that Bush watched football instead of public television "like the liberals do". This guy plays lovey-dovey with whoever is in power.
