Some delicious operatic trivia; During a performance of La bohème in Monte Carlo, Enrico Caruso (who was eventually played by Mario Lanza), during the singing of Che gelida manina (Your tiny hand is frozen) pressed a hot sausage into the hand of the venerable Dame Nellie Melba, then whispered ‘English lady, you like sausage?’.

After watching the "drink" segment on You-tube, I watched a bunch of the related links. It was a wonderful AM sing-along.

Mario Lanza was fabulous and the world of music lost one of the greatest when he died.

I try not to think too much about it but I was around in '54 when he was in his prime. Yipes!
