Two Juveniles Charged With Setting Pit Bull Ablaze in Baltimore

Two juveniles have been charged with setting a pit bull on fire, Baltimore police say.

Officer Troy Harris, a spokesman for the Baltimore Police Department, said Commissioner Frederick Bealefeld will announce the arrests during an afternoon news conference on Monday.

The dog — identifed by Harris as a female pit bull — was reportedly rescued by a Baltimore police officer on May 27, but later died despite medical treatment.

Harris declined to identify those arrested due to their age. It remains unclear exactly what charges they face.

Martin Mersereau, director of the cruelty casework division of the People for Ethical Treatment of Animals, said he hopes the juveniles receive maximum penalties for the incident if convicted.

"We're thrilled to hear ," Mersereau told FOXNews.com. "People who abuse animals rarely do it once and almost never stop there."

1. They ought to be sentenced as adults. They are psychopaths. These cretins

not only abuse animals - that's where they start - they always end up abusing people too, not to mention children. And they're NOT all "serial killers" - MANY OF THEM appear normal - married, kids, CxO of some corporation - but they're ruthless abusers, torturers, and often eventually, killers, if not stopped. humans. After all, it was only an animal they tortured.

Maybe if they had gotten a government grant, they wouldn't be in trouble with the law. I guess they're in training for animal research careers.

They should NEVER be allowed to own/have animals in the future if guilty. Their sentences will be laughable, regardless.

4. I agree. They should be barred from ever owning animals,

they should be forced to get psychiatric help, and if they don't end up spending a long time in juvenile detention then they should be doing thousands of hours of community service working for organizations that care for animals. x(

Basically in the beginning Omar walks by little Kenard attempting to set a cat on fire. The reason why this story reminds me of that scene is it's a juvenile attempting to set a domestic animal on fire and it takes place and was filmed in Baltimore.

Besides that so sad for the animal.
