Tell President Obama to urge the Senate to ratify the Law of the Sea
The Senate could soon decide whether the United States should sign on to the United Nations Law of the Sea treaty, which would expand protections for our planet's oceans. Urge President Obama to declare his support for swift Senate action to ratify the Law of the Sea treaty.

1. Get Ted Danson involved. He's dedicated a lot of time and his own
money regarding cleaning up the ocean. Debris thought to be from that Air France flight was really just debris and junk that had been dumped in the ocean. Danson's a smart guy and an Obama supporter. I would think he would love to get involved.

7. Navy is one of biggest opponents
Edited on Mon Jun-08-09 03:46 PM by One_Life_To_Give
IIRC Technically would require a Submarine to Surface when transiting the Bosphorus and other narrow (less than 24nm) waterways. Which hostorically has been the US complaint with the treaty.

On edit the restrictions on Naval vessel/submarine movements in narrow straights would be less then 24 Nautical miles wide not 50 as posted earlier.
