1. Well, why not? Limbaugh claims that he's an environmentalist.

4. i turned it. i have no interest in hearing what a woman who accused
obama of being a terrorist and all other kinds of things. Personally, I think the kids should be off limits. But then again, bristol palin put herself out there, so should she now be fair game?? I know the parents put her out there. But regardless.... barack obama said the kids should be off limits.... true. For campaigns. See, obama was a candidate, as was palin. and he felt that the campaigns should not go after the kids. But letterman is a comedian, not a politician or talking head. So, I don't know exactly where she was going with that. I can't stand her or hearing any of her tripe. And now that preajan is going to come on and say she got kicked out because of her answer to the question. but if that were true, then trump wouldn't have had a big press conference and say she could stay. they would have just fired her before.

8. exactly. that's what i said. while i personally think letterman shouldn't bother with
the kids, bristol palin... well, she is kind of different. Especially since she has been out extoling the virtues of waiting, after she didn't listen to anyone who told her she should wait. I didn't see the letterman thing, but I do believe he was referring to bristol palin and not the other ones. but he IS a comedian, and therefore he can make jokes. These people seem to forget all the crap they spewed about chelsea clinton... but that was ok. give me a break.

i think as a comedian, letterman making the joke was not off limits... i just personally thought it was poor taste. that's all.

5. Sarah Palin is to 'feminist' as Cheney is to 'pacifist'.
What an insult. She degrades the cause of women's rights every time she opens her mouth.

13. THAT was the joke that everyone's making a big deal over?
It looked to me to be more of a joke making fun of Alex Rodriguez.

16. Yes and I think that anyone who immediately had "sex with a 14 year old" come to mind
committed a "tell"

REally? That is the first thing that comes to your mind?

Either they are lying (like Sarah) or they didn't hear the "knocked up" part because *I* knew what he was referring to

11. As the venerable Church Lady says: How Convenient!
How Convenient the perspective of Feminism
when it fits her situation.

The Lady Sarah was so anti-feminist on the campaign trail,
but now she needs support.

Where's her feminism when braying about abstinence?
Where's her feminism when pounding her Bible about witches?
Where's her feminism when prancing around in defence of "LIFE" ?
Where's her feminism when she blasts about gay rights?

She's a porn star dressed up as a 'role model for girls.'
She ain't no role model...

She and Carrie Prejean need to get their own talk show...

12. Feminism comes in all shapes and forms
There are conservative feminists, it is not solely a progressive (or even liberal) domain. Though it is primarily I suppose.

There are conservative Muslim feminists who accept the burkha, Mormon feminists, etc.

15. I understand what you're saying, however
I find women who say they're feminists to be like people who say they're Christians. By their actions shall you know them. It's not enough to say you're a feminist. What about your actions? Palin's actions don't fit. She's given herself the label. That doesn't mean she deserves the label. Maybe she considers herself a feminist because she hunts? Doing something that is traditionally male makes you a feminist? When she stands up for equal rights for all women, gay or straight, whatever their age or race, and for womens' control over their own bodies, then I'll believe she is a feminist. Till then, she's a poser with a hunting license and a wardrobe paid for by the RNC.

She really just needs to go away.

19. She's the caricature of "empowerment" feminists
http://blog.iblamethepatriarchy.com/2008/12/25/new-feminism-plump-luscious-and-kissable/

“New” feminism: plump, luscious, and kissable

An acute reader once informed me that “the ideas on this blog are not new,” which remark I was apparently expected to interpret as a real take-me-down-a-peg zinger. Old ideas? Bo-ring. Entertain me with some new analysis. Preferably something more fun.

This sentiment is echoed by a bunch of “new” feminists profiled in the lifestyle section of the December 21 Sunday Times.

Screw political activism. “New” feminism is a lifestyle.

The “new” feminists are embarrassed by the old-school feminist protesters at a beauty pageant; those old bats “looked a bit silly, a bit like a stereotypical idea of what a feminist should be.” The beauty pageant in question, a new feminist maintained, was not about men. It was for “girls.” I mean, what were those protesters thinking, pointing out that sexist bullshit? Those “girls” were in the pageant of their own free will.

You’re hardly gonna fall off your chair when I aver unto you that the feminists in this article don’t, alas, live up to the hype. They’re not “new.” They’re old, so old, so painfully, oldly old. They were old when they were Tallulah Bankhead, and when they were Madonna, and when they were Suicide Girls, and when they were on “Sex and the City,” and they’re not getting any younger.

That’s right. They’re choice feminists, the gals who say “I choose it, and I decided I’m empowerful, so it’s feminist!” They’re fun feminists, the gals who say (and I quote from the article) “As a woman, you can’t not buy shoes and wear dresses. Plus all of that stuff is fun — it doesn’t take away from your power as a woman.” They’re 12-step feminists, the gals who say “Take what you want and leave the rest.”

(snip)
