4. Palin Comparison (Huffington Post)

Sarah Palin is really steamed at David Letterman about his remarks concerning her daughter. So steamed, in fact, that she indicated she wouldn't let her 14 year-old daughter near Letterman, a man Palin never fails to remind us is 62 years old. The inference is that he wouldn't be able to stop from molesting Willow, the daughter, all evidence to the contrary. Letterman has invited Palin on his show to hash this out -- his joke about her daughter getting knocked up by Alex Rodriguez. Governor Palin responded by saying she wouldn't give him the publicity.

Of course she wouldn't give him the publicity. Why share it? She is doing just fine exploiting her family all by herself.

5. I don't identify with Palin in this situation the way he said mothers would.
I have sons, and one is disabled, and for some reason, this "statutory rape" / Letterman story didn't make me want to identify with Palin. I still think she made too much of it and it is a mistake to take on late-night commedians like Dave. Palin dragged her kid out there, 17, pregnant and vocal, for political benefit for herself.

I have a friend with two daughters, very upper middle class and girls with fabulous grades. One was brought home by the police because he caught her giving her boyfriend a bj in his car in the park. The mother almost died of laughter. I doubt she'd be identifying with Palin, either. I'd bet that alot of mothers of teenage girls who know they are sexually active probably think Palin is going overboard over a joke intended for her adult daughter, but that is only a guess I'm making.
