Rep. Rangel Ignoring Faxes. Again!!
If He Won't Accept Your Faxes, Maybe We Should Call -- A Lot
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
UNBELIEVABLE!! It's happening again!!
You remember last week when we flooded the House Ways & Means Committee with faxes and they sent them back to us, dumped the received ones in the trash and threatened me with prosecution??
Well, Rep. Rangel is the Chair of Ways & Means and now his New York office is doing the same thing again.
Since early this morning you have been sending your messages through our fax system. Some of your messages supporting single payer Medicare For All and congratulating Sen. Harkin for his (verbal) support of single payer are going to Rep. Rangel's New York office.
As chair of Ways & Means, Charles Rangel has a responsibility not just to his constituents but to all Americans. You want him to know that single payer Medicare For All must be part of the health care discussion in his committee.
And yet, just like last week, his office is faxing the messages back to us. Presumably they are throwing these faxes in the trash also.
And when people call, the New York office denies they are faxing back and the Washington office hangs up or doesn't answer. What kind of democratically elected representative is that?
What have we done: we have changed the fax to Rangel to go to his Washington office where perhaps they will be treated more responsibly.
What can you do: voice your concern about single payer and especially about being ignored directly to Rangel's offices. The Washington phone number for Rangel is 202-225-4365 and the New York phone number is 212-663-3900.
You can also tweet him. The address is @cbrangel. Tell him to stop ignoring faxes from single payer advocates.
You could also call Rep. John Conyers' office at 202-225-5126 and ask him to intervene. Ask him to tell his 'good friend' Charlie Rangel that it is not aceptable for a powerful Congressman in charge of health reform and taxes to simply ignore Americans' messages, no matter what the message is or where it comes from.
1. He's busy trying to bring back the draft to score cheap political points
I'll never forgive him for that, no matter how many overly complex explanations he provides.
3. Um, you can't "just tweet" somebody. If they're not following you, they won't see it...
(in all likelihood)
And who still uses fax machines, anyway? :rofl:
