'Lone wolf' terrorists harder to stop
Source: Associated Press

WASHINGTON -- An elderly man enters a crowded museum carrying a rifle and begins shooting. A young man in Arkansas pulls the trigger outside a military recruiting office. Another man opens fire in a Kansas church.

Three chilling, unconnected slayings in less than two weeks. One gunman was a white supremacist, one a militant Muslim, one a fervent foe of abortion.

Each suspect had a history that suggested trouble. Each apparently was driven to act by beliefs considered by some as extreme. Each shooter fits the description of a "lone wolf" terrorist, a killer whose attack, authorities say, is harder to head off than if planned by a trained terrorist network.

"It could be anyone. It could be the guy next door, living in the basement of his mother's place, on the Internet just building himself up with hate, building himself up to a boiling point and finally using what he's learned," said John Perren, head of the counter terrorism branch at the FBI's Washington field office.

And what doesn't help is the likes of Skeezix, Druggie Limbaugh, Beck, the Mannity, and the Savage Weiner building this all up.

1. Yes. Most of these people are non-joiners. They
don't play well with others. But...they read the crap being spoonfed on the web sites of hatred and it feeds their own.

Sites like Free Republic don't have them as members, but they have them as followers, and, in some cases, quote these people's hate-filled writings on their sites.

Such sites and spokesmonkeys carry the weight of blame for encouraging these lone wolves to act, even though they are cowards who will not act themselves. The keyboard warriors egg the unbalanced and paranoid to carry out their deeds.

3. And unfortunately for everyone that does something like this there
are probably dozens who are spouting the same nonsense but will never act on it. So how does law enforcement figure out which one is the dangerous one and which one is just mentally ill?

5. Past is prologue. Roeder was a convicted felon
and FBI had TAPE of TWO recent attempts of his in violation of FACE.

6. "...unconnected slayings"? They ARE connected: access to guns. Legal or illegal
doesn't matter to the dead victims or their families left to grieve. And it ain't just the high profile killings: around 30,000 people (including children) will have "by firearm" on their death certificate this year, same for most years.
Still think the Second Amendment keeps us all "safe"?
