Venezuela, US move to restore expelled ambassadors
Venezuela, US move to restore expelled ambassadors

By IAN JAMES – 8 hours ago

MARACAY, Venezuela (AP) — Venezuela and the United States said Wednesday they will restore their ambassadors more than nine months after President Hugo Chavez expelled the U.S. envoy in his final diplomatic bout with the Bush administration.

But Chavez signaled he still has major differences with Washington, accusing the U.S. of having a hand in recent protests in Iran and saying he hopes President Barack Obama will lead the United States on a new path.

"I hope that Obama takes charge of dismantling the empire," Chavez told reporters. He added that he hopes the "United States starts to respect the world."

U.S. State Department spokesman Ian Kelly said in Washington that the time frame for restoring the ambassadors remained unclear, but a top Venezuelan official said the exchange would happen soon.

Chavez — a fierce opponent of U.S. policy who once likened President George W. Bush to the devil — has expressed hope for improved relations with Washington following years of tensions with the Bush administration. Obama says his government wants to improve ties with all nations in the Americas.

2. Good
I'm pretty neutral on President Chavez, I do not see Venezuela as any kind of threat but a potential good ally. I may not agree with everything he does or says but... 1 - I do not know the whole story of what goes on down there. 2 - The people of Venezuela seem to love him. 3 - I'm really more concerned with fixing our country. Part of that is improving our relations/image with other countries and I see this as a step in that direction. Good news as I see it.

3. Certainly smarter than trying to demonize and topple the guy...
Currently he's been working with Iran to remove the Dollar as the world's (and OPEC's) reserve currency.

That would hurt our economy in a big, big way.

4. But he's not the first and not the last to work to that end, and they believe they have a just cause

Never mind my opinion of the current Regime in Iran, I think the Chinese-Middle Eastern-European effort to get rid of the dollar as the worlds reserve currency isn't that wacky. It's not as if the system worked well for them, or us (if us means the people and not the gang) so it is slightly imperialistic to fight with our gloves off to keep the dollar standard. It was/is a pretty much inevitable movement and not some dirty plan by the worlds dictators to topple the shining city on the hill.

5. I agree. We've leaned too long and hard on the advantages of the Dollar...
as reserve currency. And that last multi-trillion dollar borrowing orgy to rescue the banks may well be the straw that breaks the camel's back.

The main thrust of my comment was that looking for enemies by trying to topple governments that disagree with us is a bad idea in this weakened dollar environment.

6. I got that - sorry if my post made a lecturing impression.

couldn't agree more with what you said. I always wondered how much Saddams blatant enthusiasm for the Euro as Opec-reserve currency (which I, living in Europe, would not welcome, but the Imperials here are very eager) had to do with the timing of our tragic adventure in Iraq.

Anways. Talk about change coming. The day the dollar ceases to be the reserve currency... Makes many people think of the 4 horsemen.

7. The Bushwhacks were planning Oil War II: South America. Their funding of the white separatists
in Bolivia, who opened fire on unarmed peasant farmers killing some 30 people in September '08 was only one aspect of the planned war. Ecuador's president, Rafael Correa, said that they had a three-country strategy for instigating similar rightwing coups (Bolivia, Ecuador, Venezuela), that is, using secessionist movements to split off the oil/gas rich provinces into fascist mini-states in control of the resources, and there is strong evidence for this three-country war plan. The Bushwhacks had, earlier in the year, mounted an attack on Ecuador--a rehearsal for using Colombia ($6 billion in U.S. military 'aid') as a proxy aggressor--in which the U.S./Colombia bombed a FARC guerilla camp just inside Ecuador's border, and then raided over the border, killing 25 people in their sleep, including FARC's chief hostage negotiator and peace advocate, Raul Reyes. The Bushwhacks' plan for disorder, mayhem and war was foiled by the unity of South America's leftist leaders and probably also by their cooperative intelligence agencies. The war plan also included several known plots to assassinate Chavez, hatched within the Colombian military and its rightwing paramilitary death squads, a similar plot to assassinate Evo Morales in Bolivia, by rightwing mercenaries, and massive USAID-NED, DEA and no doubt CIA funding of fascist opposition groups and coup plotters.

The Associated Pukes of course whitewash this whole story in their...ahem...'news' article on the Obama/Chavez peace accord. Morales had good reason to expel the U.S. ambassador from Bolivia, as did Chavez in Venezuela. Both we and the people of South America were spared Oil War II by those and other actions of South America's new, leftist (majorityist) leadership. I don't think the war plan is off, but has perhaps been put on the back burner by the global corporate predators and war/oil profiteers who are behind it, while they work more covertly on trying to destroy democracy there and here, as the preliminary to stealing more of the world's oil.
