Adam and Steve finally can swap vows at Disney
http://www.orlandosentinel.com/business/orl-disney0707apr07,0,7891859.story?coll=orl-home-headlines

Gays can now exchange vows in one of the world's most popular wedding spots -- then get whisked away in Cinderella's carriage.

Walt Disney Parks & Resorts said Friday that it has "updated" its policies to allow gay and lesbian couples to buy wedding packages at Walt Disney World or Disneyland, and use all the same wedding spots previously reserved for heterosexual couples.

Ceremonies also will be allowed on Disney Cruise Line ships and other Disney facilities.

The "updated" policy stops short of declaring that gays can get married at Disney, because they can't. Same-sex marriages are not legal in Florida or California. But "commitment ceremonies" are welcome.

1. And they'll be boycotted by the Fundis in the next news cycle
My family happened to be at WDW during one of the Gay gatherings that evidently happen down there. I'd rather vacation with gay folks than fundi-nuts anytime! Nice to see Disney doing the right thing, but I'm sure $ played a role too. The wedding biz is big bucks at WDW!

2. I hope so. My husband and I might actually go there if the fundies are boycotting.

4. I hope so too...
That place gets too damn crowded and like you, I think gays are a lot of fun and aren't rude like some fundies are. They (fundies) can go play in their own park. :eyes: http://www.theholylandexperience.com/

3. Here in Florida...
The Fundie response, so far, is decidedly underwhelming....along the lines of "we're not surprised". They lifted their boycott a couple of years ago once they realized it wasn't really doing anything, and the Baptists kiddies were still screaming to go to Disney World.

5. I thought the Sentinel's tagline was baiting...
"Adam and Steve finally can swap vows..."
A non-biased way to lead off would have been, "Disney opens chapel to all"

I can't wait 48 hours until the the fundies' LTTE start to appear.

6. I LOVED them using Adam and Steve!
Maybe the fundies will have to come to grips with the fact that their God "made" Steve too!

7. As my (gay) friend said, Disney has always been gay....
who else is going to put on a mouse-suit and dance around for photo-ops?

His words, not mine.

8. Smart since I can't think of a reason in the world for a self respecting straight cpl to marry there
but I completely get the schtick (sp?) for gays. But then, I think the movie 300 is the gayest movie of all time.
