The stoprosie site has about 29,000 sigs, while the keep her one has about 8000. That's bullshit!! Rosie is asking a lot of the difficult questions that Americans want answered. And the View is watched by a VERY CRUCIAL female voting bloc. WE CANNOT AFFORD TO LOSE HER VOICE!!

7. Rosie the Riveter
Fortunately the so-called ladies on The View do not represent most women today. Just wanted to make that clear!

I blame Babs for this whole thing. She is the producer and she hired Rosie. She knew what she was in for. Anyway who really cares what Rosie the Riveter thinks!

Always surmised Barbara leaned towards the Left.

39. I remember right after 9/11 when rosie jumped on the bush bandwagon where she hadn't previously been
because she was :scared: of the terraists. She lost me then. Now she has seen the light with regard to 9/11 and we're suppose to back her? A little late to the party rosie. And Mrs. Hasslebeck make me want to puke as does Babs. So no I don't care is rosie stays on the View and I don't care if the View continues on! And welcome to DU! :hi:

Showed Bill O'Reilly calling for her dismissal and mentioned her high salary request of $40 million for one year's contract renewal (though they could not verify that salary request) :eyes:.

C'mon this poll/website you link is as scientific as my dog's ability to sniff out a republican.

If you want to keep Rosie on the air, then contact ABC with your real information and send her support that way. I could register on either site several times and ABC knows this . . .

37. And many of those women are hearing things they'd NEVER hear
otherwise, or from any place else, thanks to Rosie. Important things like how Donald Rumsfeld and others approved torture, and how it goes on daily. She weighs in on most of the topics of the day. INCREDIBLY VALUABLE that middle America is getting a small, coherent dose of liberal thought.

why shouldn't rosie be given her right to speak THE truth?

27. why doesn't Rosie get her own show?
Edited on Sun Apr-08-07 06:09 AM by SemperEadem
Oh, yeah... that's right.. she did have her own show and didn't pull in the numbers to keep it on the air, especially after she went after Tom Selleck.

It would seem Rosie's had her chance on many occasions to speak her truth, but she doesn't put it in a way that her message gets over--she articulates it in a way that gets her shut down. Isn't the definition of insanity doing the same thing over and over the same way and expecting different results?

Also--yes, it's true that everyone has a right to speak their truth--what they don't have a right to is having their message distributed.

Conservative talk show host Bill O'Reilly has blasted Rosie O'Donnell for comments she made on "The View" about British captives in Iran.

Whose side are you on?

Rosie's. She should be able to express an opinion that she feels is underrepresented in the media.

22. Stop Rosie.com has about 30,000 signatures! They fear the truth.
http://www.stoprosie.com/

OUR MISSION is to influence current and prospective viewers of The View to not watch the program until the situation of Rosie O'Donnell and her anti-American falsities is rectified by Disney-ABC.

OUR REASON for calling this boycott is to raise awareness of the anti-American rhetoric being displayed in the mainstream media today. We aim to show Disney-ABC (and their sponsors) that we, as American citizens, will no longer enable an anti-American individual to occupy our network television airtime.

OUR METHOD comes in the form of an online petition. We ask for your support in signing this petition, proving to Disney-ABC that if the problem is not addressed, they will lose a significant portion of their audience.

We would like to make it very clear that we support Miss O’Donnell’s right to say whatever she deems appropriate. This is a free country and she has the right of free speech. We are not demanding that government or Disney-ABC censor anything she, or anyone else, says. Instead, we wish to let our voices be heard by manipulating the market. She has the right to speak her mind; we have the right to not watch her program. If The View remains a strong show ratings-wise, we believe there is nothing wrong with Disney-ABC leaving Rosie on the air. Therefore, the only way we can succeed is by proving to Disney-ABC that she is not profitable anymore.
We are not placing the blame for this situation on Disney-ABC, The View, the sponsors of The View, or even Rosie O'Donnell. We are placing the blame on the audience of The View for enabling Disney-ABC to leave Rosie on the air.
It has come to our attention that there have been several imitation websites and online petitions posted in Rosie O'Donnell's defense. We urge the sensible people that signed this document to not attack those websites and to not sign false names to their petitions. We have nothing to gain by attacking those that don't support our position.

29,956 signatures in total (displaying the latest 1,000 - most recent at the bottom)

25. I wonder how much their viewership has increased....
since Billo has called for her ouster? He should just keep his mouth shut. He has to know that when he picks these very public fights with people he hates, it's usually the people he hates, who benefit. Just look at Keith Olbermann.

I heard one of the talking heads on Scarborough say that Rosie is single-handedly responsible for pulling in something like 600k new viewers for the show, so Rosie ain't going nowhere, unless she decides too.

26. My in-laws faithfully watched Bill O
but as "bush blew it" more and more (their words) they became more disgusted with everything in general ... but still continued to watch O'Lielly ...

the next time i came to visit them, i sat bracing myself for the usual, but almost fell off the couch when they switched to Keith. I had to ask and pop said that bill o was talking about Keith so much they decided to check him out and they checked him out so much, they decided they liked watching him more

oh and they think ro is hilarious :)

31. Anyone noticed that the petition to stop her is mostly men?
No offense to the fine men of DU and my observation is certainly NOT scientific, but a quick eyeball of both sites seems to conclude that most of the signatures on the Stop Rosie site are men who've probably never even seen the show and simply want to hush-up an outspoken woman they don't think is physically attractive.

The other site seems to be mostly female.

Again, this isn't scientific - I didn't count - but I can certainly tell there are more male names than female names on the Stop Rosie site.

36. Everoy DUer needs to be a "KEEP ROSIE" no matter WHAT they
think of her otherwise.

She is performing an absolutely incredible service, being on daily daytime TV, with millions of viewers (and ratings UP for a show I used to consider a huge waste of time and now love), interjecting liberal thought, philosophy and values AND countering rightwing talking points with THE TRUTH.

Some people think she's whacky on the subject of 9-11. Fine. Whatever. It doesn't matter. That's such a small part of what she's done, what she talks about.

And all the efforts to shut her up are simply to prevent liberal points of view from being heard. At this moment, aside from occasional Bill Maher and occasional TDS, Rosie on The View is the ONLY reliable truly liberal voice on national TV. Or any TV. Well, maybe Tavis Smiley, but what are HIS ratings??

EVERY DUers needs to be pro-Rosie and help make sure she's not dumped. This shut-up Rosie movement has me seriously worried. We CANNOT let it succeed.
