U.S. gas prices jump 18 cents in 2 weeks

CAMARILLO, Calif. - The average cost of self-serve regular gasoline
rose about 18 cents per gallon nationwide over the past two weeks,
according to a survey released Sunday.

That translated to an average price of $2.78 a gallon, according to
the latest Lundberg Survey of 7,000 gas stations across the country.

On April 6, a gallon of midgrade gasoline averaged about $2.89, and
premium was nearly $3.

Nationwide, the lowest average price for regular fuel was $2.54 in
Charleston, S.C., and the highest was in San Francisco at $3.30 a
gallon.

3. I think the oil companies are trying to
ride the gravy train, before '08 because when the Dems win, those days are over. even if the price doesn't goes back down to $1.50 a gallon, the oil companies are going to subsidze conservation, alternative energy and pay back the royalties they owe!(I know, from my lips to God's ear)

5. .18 is an understatement
Here in Norfolk the price of gas rose from 2.25 to 2.59, in roughly a month.

Nonsense.

6. Great timing. I'm driving to Cleveland next week
in an 18' diesel box truck. We've got vans going out to Atlanta, Chicago and LA also plus a 24'er already on the way to Houston. Thanks Mr. President for keeping gas prices down like ya promised. Boy that deregulation thing, the "voluntary" emission standards and all of the tax breaks sure have kept Big Oil from taking advantage of us haven't they? Oh wait. Your vision of "us" is a bit different than mine. I forgot.

Luckily we'll be able to pass along the increased fuel costs to our clients. So will others like the truckers who pretty much feed America. Higher fuel prices raise the cost of pretty much everything we come in contact with every day.

Oh well. Here's to making the oil companies bigger profits. Whether we like it or not.

8. I've Had it with those F*ckers
I've been screwed by the oil companies since the 1973 oil embargo. I've always sworn I would not buy a foreign car (loyalty to American workers), but I've reached the point of no return.

Hello, Hybrid. Only question is which one. If I could buy an elecric car with the range I need, I would.

Bastard oilco's. At this point, I'm at the verge of advocating nationalizing those pigf*ckers. And no, I do not condemn capitalism. But there's a point.

12. If you're into two wheels, I have a solution for you

This is a 2005 Bajaj Chetak scooter from India. I picked up a couple of years ago when gas started going up. At the time I had a fifty two mile round trip commute, now I'm down to a thirty four mile round trip commute, and still love the bike. It gets 100mpg, goes up to 55-60mph, has a 145cc, 9.5hp four stroke engine with a four speed manual(hand operated) transmission. It's a great little bike, good pick up, excellent on the gas, and all kinds of fun to ride. You can find a local dealer at <http://www.bajajusa.com/>

If you're OK with riding two wheels, you'll love this little bike. More than likely, state regs depending, you'll have to put a plate on it and get a motorcycle license, but that's a small price to pay for the gas savings. Sure, you can't ride it in the wet and snow, but I do ride it whenever it is clear and above twenty eight degrees out. I would recommend highly that you get the optional windshield also. Eating bugs is no fun.

9. Who Cares
I hope it goes up to $20 gallon. Maybe it will keep some of the idiots off the road.

11. Nice!
:sarcasm: I guess you're not one of those idiots? :eyes:

Never mind the consequences of $20 a gallon that would put a major hardship on the working poor and middle class in the cost of transportation of goods and services so long as it keeps some of the idiots off of the road. :eyes:

13. Our Pres is an oil man. VP is an industrial war complex minion
So who'd a thunk that we are at war in an oil producing company, oil is more than $3 a gallon, and the private sector is rolling in war profits.
