Good lord-anyone want to respond to the Idiot Iraq War defenders in My area?
http://www.dallasnews.com/sharedcontent/dws/dn/opinion/letters/stories/DN-3piraq_0408edi.ART.State.Edition1.43d4e33.html

three separate letters
-snip-

I don't get the folks who want to cut and run from Iraq.

We have an all-volunteer military force in Iraq re-enlisting in record numbers. They consist of the best and brightest of our young people. They understand that we fight an enemy that uses children as suicide bombers and would kill you or me just for being different from them.

We have not been attacked here at home since 9/11 because of our commander in chief, President Bush. He has more guts that any of the Democrats in Congress who want to cut and run.

There is the separation of powers in this country because the Congress cannot and should not second-guess every decision made in a war.

-snip

If we leave Iraq, it is proven that they will come back to this country and attack us. Terrorists live to kill Americans and Jews. We didn't provoke them the first time. They just thought if they flew planes into buildings that Allah would be happy.

-snip
It is sad but true that Democrats would rather see terrorists like al-Qaeda win, rather than our troops and Iraqi citizens, since they have talked of defeat from the beginning.

They are doing everything they can to see that it happens, with pork-barrel spending and withdrawal dates larding down the war-spending bill, which President Bush will be forced to veto.

1. Why aren't all those chicken shits in Iraq instead of posting on Internet message boards?

3. Overstatement and Manipulation
All three letters overstate the Democratic position for manipulative purposes. "Timetable for Withdrawal" does NOT equate "cut and run."

This is such a standard Republican tactic at this point. Can you spell S-T-R-A-W-M-A-N?

The puzzling thing is it's so infrequently called what it is -- simple overstatement and manipulation.

6. And the false dichotomies!
We can fight them over there OR we can fight them here. No other options.

You are either in lockstep agreement with whatever the Bush admin's (ever-changing) position is OR you are appeasing Al Qaeda.

8. I'll give it a shot
1. The soldiers are re-enlisting NOT because they believe in the mission (most do not), but because they know the dangers to their brothers-in-arms and want to help protect them.
2. "Fighting them over there" has nothing to do with the lack of attacks here. How long was it between the first failed bombing of the Twin Towers and 9/11? Except, of course, for the failed LAX bombing attempt that was foiled during the Clinton Administration. And the terrorists have been very ative in attacking our European Allies.
3. The Separation of Powers is to keep any one Branch, such as the Presidency, from gaining too much power. When the President oversteps his bounds and goes against the interests of the People, it is Congress' duty to step in.
It has NOT been proven that if we leave Iraq they will come here and attack. It HAS been proven (by the Pentagon) that our presence in Iraq has increased the numbers of terrorist recruits and terrorists.
4. Democrats have never talked of defeat. The Democrats AND the Mililtary have erpeatedly said that Victory can only be acheived by a diplomatic solution, not a military one.
5. Bush is acting against the desires and best interestts of Americans. Democrats are using the means available to them to rein him in and force him to seek a better solution

9. I definitely feel for you. I had a run-in at my church
here in Midlothian. She was a complete ignorant fool and really had no idea what she was talking about. She had investigated nor researched anything she was saying. She was just mimicking what she hears on Faux News. Unfortunately, there are a lot in our area, but you just have to keep fighting. That is all I know how to do.

10. These assholes are in for a rude awakening when we get attacked here again
I suppose it will still be Clinton's fault, though.
