"You should've voted for McCain/Palin..."

I am so goddamned sick of hearing that retort, and others like it, from administration apologists here on DU, whenever someone with some sign of intelligence questions this administration's actions or has pointed criticism directed at our president over a particular issue. I see that retort several times a day in threads, EVERY SINGLE DAY...

Let me set you people straight, you who are so fond of whipping this riposte out at the slightest provocation, you, who are the dauntless defenders of the Obama mystique, no matter what....

We are still at war in two countries, with no real end in sight.

Our president STILL has not put an end to illegal wiretappings.

Goldman Sach, et al. are the only ones bailed out. (have you been bailed out? I haven't been.)

Cap and trade...(need I say more about this horrendous idea?)

And just today I hear that the Obama administration is going to allow clearcutting in the Tongass National Forest.

There's more, but I'm numb from Heineken and well, those of us who pay attention know the score. It has absolutely nothing to do with "if your so unsatisfied, then why didn't you..." For me, it has everything to do with the fact that, for eight long, agonizing years this country was taken over by a group of thugs and thieves, resulting in a country so crippled, that even if the greatest president of all time followed, there was no way to clean up from the previous act. All of us pinned our HOPES on Barack Obama, because the survival of our country is at stake. It was so important for his administration to get things right, and get them right right now. To the great detriment of our country, it hasn't happened, isn't happening, and will not happen, because he is proving himself to be no different than all the other fuckers who claim to serve the people, but serve corporate America. I saw this well before the primaries and stated so here on a number of occasions. No one wanted to hear it. Too many were enthralled by the cult of personality.

If I say any more, I'll probably get TS'd...

13. oh, I probably have 50 on my OP! ha... but I know have some recs too, as it was
in positive territory for a while.

I don't understand the consternation for being upset with the way things are heading... it's like we're driving off a cliff and many people have blinders on and are singing happy songs! we're in a mess - yes, the President did very little to cause it, it was the moran before him, but, he's done some very questionable things since taking over. The more I read about the bailouts and stimulus the more I disagree with the way it's been handled - it should have had major oversight (bailout). I was for all of it, but I've read from the NYT on it, and I'm saddened to see this could have gone better, more than likely. Instead it feels like corporate America is again f****g us over and laughing.

I'm just sayin'. Quitter.

Now, if you have a legit issue - how about writing some letters, getting involved grassroots style, instead of bitch-moan and complain-style.

9. It's in my nature to be contrary.
I think Obama's heart is in the right place, but I am not pleased with much that has happened since the stimulus bill was passed. So I get those kinds of retorts too. They're not pleasant.

I've seen it directed at gays and just today in the Tongass thread.

This place is filled with hypocrites and what passes for discussion here reminds me a lot of a certain other political message boards that DUers love to discuss.

"People seem to forget the other choice was McCain Palin" is hardly a statement that one should have voted for McCain Palin.

And contrary to your accusation, you'll never find such a post from me.

I challenge you to get busy and find one. I'll be waiting to see if you show up with anything except more fabrications.

Anyone who can read and comprehend can understand that saying the alternative to Obama was McCain Palin is not the same as saying "you should have voted for McCain Palin."

You can't back up your statement because your claim is false.

19. Sure. Things would be awful had they been elected.
That completely misses the point however. They WEREN'T elected, and as such there are reasons to expect things to be better than they are. Surely that cannot be your sole criterion for evaluating Obama, "Hey, he's better than McCain", is it?

23. That was everyone's other choice. You ultimately had a choice of two candidates
you may have wanted to get someone else elected like yourself or someone you agree more closely with but it clearly was never going to happen in 2008 so no matter how hard you wish or dream the choice boiled down to Obama or McCain.

and then comment to tell you it is a piece of shit thread. I think you are an irrational idealist. Guess what? People like you will never be happy because what is possible politically will never be good enough.

Get this through your head. The majority of the country isn't way out in left field as you apparently are.

Perhaps you should let it sink in that you are out of the mainstream and quit your fit throwing about what you wish Obama had done in his first 5 months in office.

41. I guess, by your logic(your name fits here) that it is irrational to
expect a president to be truthful. I just love the way you frame those of us Americans who believe in the rule of law, the constitution and the law of nature as "left field." That is the exact framing that freepers use. Very interesting.

and, we'd have single-payer health care, best in the world, with free college tuition for all, including medical degrees.

No, wait, maybe not ...

Anyway, the general election was between a pair of right wing wackos, and a couple of centrists. The left was not represented.

33. You might want to rub a little reality on that spiel.
If you think that troop withdrawals from Iraq, and a demand for a hard timeline in Afghanistan are the same as open-ended continuation...

If you think that reducing greenhouse gases isn't a good thing...

And if you're going to outright fabricate stuff about not walking back the wiretapping...

What the hell ARE you doing here?

45. He is switching one unjust war for another.

His plan to reduce carbon emissions is smoke and mirrors, is bad and dangerous policy, and is really nothing more than a payback to big business, which contributed more than 300 million dollars to Obama's presidential campaign.

Oh, and he HASN'T stopped the warrantless illegal wiretapping of millions of people.

But hey, wraith, you're going to believe what you want to believe.

As for steaming piles of shit, I'd say that your unbridled worship of Obama qualifies.
