I've just been noticing something as I watch the news each day. Especially taking into account the recent tragic events in Florida leaving two large hearted individuals dead. I also notice this every night on the local news in my relatively quiet home town of Omaha, Nebraska, and I ask my wife this very question.
When listening to the GOP pundits, Faux News, and especially Prick Cheney, I'd like them to ponder this as I have.
We tragically lost 3000 people in the 911 attacks, and more of our Brave Men and Woman of the Armed Services. The latter could have been easily avoided (the prior as well, depending on who you talk to). Not to diminish this horrific event, but on a personal level and for those that have been victims of violent crimes in the U.S., who should we really fear?
According to Disaster Center.Com , from 2001 to 2007, we have lost 100,641 of our citizens to Murder, which I am certain is nearing 100% by the hands of our fellow U.S. Citizens. This doesn't count 2008 and numbers so far in 2009. This doesn't count accidents like running red lights and other acts of negligence that could have been avoided.
I just watch the GOP claim that Obama is making our country less safe from Terrorism, which is in and of itself is a crock. But even if it were true...who should you really fear the most?
I know what my answer would be? Each time I hear of a little boy being murdered or a woman being abducted, raped and murdered on the news, I turn to my wife and ask, "So...who do you think they would have said they fear more? Psychos in our own country or Al-Qaeda?".
Where's the GOP on that one? Or any of our politicians?
(Don't get me started on Death's from preventable health issues that arise from lack of any or quality of health care in this Country).
