Finally! Someone who saw the same presser I did
Thank you, Katrina. You're the only one who truly gets it.

2. Katrina Vanden Heuvel is on Ed's special show
All the pundits so far have been criticizing Obama. Katrina truly understood what he was trying to do -- educate the public.

3. I thought he was more succinct than ever
He used the kind of clear "folksy" language that anybody can understand. We inherited a $1.3 trillion deficit and have actually trimmed it. Trillions of dollars are gone. We have to do this or we'll go bankrupt. The rush is people are dying.

Reading the groaning around here was enough to make me not care to watch the commentary. I watched Black in America 2 and Soledad deserves an Emmy. Dumb ditzy Soledad O'Brien may have found her true calling. She may be the next generation's Diane Sawyer. She was just terrific.

6. I heard that as talking down to people--at times.

16. No, he does not have to. He just plays into the media
when he talks down. He needs to set high expectations--not like the media with the dumbing down.

10. It's television.

It is almost imperative that you prepare the content on TV for the lowest common denominator.

7. I agree on all points
I watched Soledad's special, in large part because I didn't want to hear the "pundits" predictable bullshit. O'Brien was terrific in this special.

9. That's probably what I should have done
instead of yelling at my TV for the last two and a half hours. Tweety, Bill Press, Howard Fineman, and even Rachel were all just awful and gave him no credit. As I said in the OP, Katrina was the only who really gets him.

12. It's on again tomorrow
I don't know how many episodes are what the schedule is exactly, but this is a must see program. Tonight she featured a program of Chris Rock's wife where she takes 30 kids to South Africa. It was so touching. She also featured a program of Susan Rice's brother to mentor young professionals, an 18 month program. Soledad really has the ability to expose people's hearts along with the essential facts without ever been tearjerky or preachy. Really good.

I'll take them over Howard Fineman and Chris Matthews any day of the week.

13. It surprised me that the pundits missed a lot of what the President said!
Ed stressed that he never talked about the Public Option. Yet, he did, explicitly. Was Ed daydreaming through that?

Over and over the pundits were saying it wasn't personal enough. Yet, I thought he hit it home to everyone with or without health insurance in this country.

I think the pundit class was expecting some chest-thumping theater, or in-the-weeds discussion that would truly have bored middle America. Therefore, it was the pundits who were bored.

So be it.

I was like "Did these people take notes?"
