Sacramento Girl, 12, Confronts GOP Leader Over School Cuts
Sac Girl, 12, Confronts GOP Leader Over School Cuts

SACRAMENTO, CA - It seems that even kids are fed up with California's budget problems.

On Wednesday, a 12-year-old Sacramento girl confronted state Assemblyman Sam Blakeslee, one of the Republican budget negotiators, as he was leaving a news conference in the Capitol.

Ashante Throwerwommack, who is in seventh grade, asked him why lawmakers keep cutting funding for publicschools: She asked: "Why is it that us children seem to suffer...?"

As reporters and TV crews swarmed around them, the San Luis Obispo Republican responded that he had two children in public schools.

Blakeslee answered they were able to preserve Propositon 98 mandated funding for schools, but admitted "this is a very difficult time. We're doing our best."

2. Funny how the prison guard union keeps
The beginning pay rate for its guards at $ 23 plus an hour. And you never ever hear about cuts in their pay, or roll backs on their duty.

Many guards make over 100K plus each year with overtime.

Meanwhile, the schools and social programs are the first hit, DESPITE laws saying the schools must be left alone.

3. Cheaper to throw 'em in the big house
than educate them so they don't go there in the first place.

Oh, wait.

4. So, where is Michelle Malkin to demonize this poor child for expressing her right to an education?
