I can't remember which Senator was approached on the teevee the other day (and he is a high ranking one) and he said he'd like to see the birth certificate. Very few of them have said in a very public way that this is total nonsense.

However, when even ANN COULTER won't go along with the birther nonsense, you know that you are REALLY out there on the fringe. It was amusing to see all those GOP congressmen trying to evade that HuffPo reporter when he was trying to question them. There may be a lot of GOPers paying lip service to the whole *controversy* but I haven't really heard any them seriously demanding that Obama *prove* that he is a US citizen or challenging his qualifications as POTUS (yet, anyway). I think that most of them just have to *say* something to keep the birthers at bay because they don't want to offend them (why they would care I have NO idea but.........) I honestly don't think this is a winning issue for them and I think they know it but I guess they feel that they have to equivocate a bit to keep the birthers from going after them. I think maybe they might even be scared of them. :eyes:
But them calling Obama's citizenship/eligibility to be POTUS into question at all still makes them look like a bunch of nuts.
