PBS Newshour tonight - the Brooks/Shields segment discussing the Town Halls

Disgusting. Mark Shields went into how what we are seeing has nothing to do with a democratic process, rational discourse, etc and alluded to the astroturfing of the events. Brooks of course does his little sheepish, wonkish response - "of course I respect courteous discourse, but what we are seeing is real people going out and registering their discomfort with what is being proposed - only a minority of those making noise are being organized" or some bullshit like that.

And he is let off the hook! Why is the media so asleep at the wheel on the true nature of the GOP backed organized disruption of these events?

1. When I first read your subject line, I wondered "Why is Brooke Shields discussing

town hall meetings and politics?"

But I know of whom you speak. Mark Shields is awesome.

2. I saw part of that. Shields seemed genuinely concerned because

the real discussion is getting lost. I thought Brooks agreed, but didn't see the whole thing.

At this point, even the Lehrer Hour is so compromised, that I'm glad Mark Shields is on there AT ALL!!! He's like a token liberal given a few seconds, a throwback to when these guys were also actual journalists.

Brooks is a joke. That's the schtick. It's like Liimbaugh. At some point, he started taking himself seriously.
