Dean made a great point on passing health care
Edited on Sun Aug-09-09 09:28 PM by ProSense
(TIME) But even if Congress passes the health-care-reform legislation that Obama wants, it will take years to implement. Can the Democrats change things fast enough that health care won't be a liability for Obama if and when he runs for re-election?

(DEAN) Absolutely. Put in guaranteed issue and community rating at once, so people cannot be turned down for insurance in the private sector, nor can they have their insurance taken away because of an illness. He'll get huge credit for that and there's no budgetary cost.

Obama is going to get health care reform with a public option, and will get the credit for a huge accomplishment, especially the economic impact. The critics are out in full force. I'm afraid they're going to end up like the birthers: forever in denial and screaming in public.

1. Why isnt Obama using Dean as his main advisor on health care reform?
If its because Rahm doesnt like him, kick Rahm to the curb.

7. It's best for us that Dean can say publicly what he wants on healthcare
If he was under Obama, he'd be muzzled. At least, this way, he can push for the public option with a clear conscience and keep the public option alive.

5. I'm still pissed at Obama for not giving Dean the HHS job.
Sibelius is useless. Dean, while he is doing well out there trying to sell Obama's plan, would absolutely be getting it done in congress if he had the authority.

6. I'm not sure I can recall a time when Dean DIDN'T make a good point.
I like Dean a lot. The more influence he can have in public discourse, the better.

Recommended.

9. Guaranteed issue and community rating won't work unless--
--there are strict regulations on how much extra insurers can charge people.
