Reform the system to ensure that more than 97% of all Americans are covered], cap premiums and offer a public option to keep the insurance companies honest and contain costs. Offer portability so that Americans who lose their jobs don't lose their coverage. Ensure that insurance companies cannot deny coverage based on a pre-existing illness and that castatrophic care doesn't bankrupt Americans.

11. Major fail
1) You can't define a word using the word itself (ie "Reform the system..." as a definition for reform)

2) There is no public option. Instead, some of the currently uninsured will be able to get coverage from the govt. However, this "public" option will not be available to almost 90% of the population

3) The "public" option, such as it is, will not "keep the insurance companies honest and contain costs" because the public option will not be allowed to compete with insurance corps

I'm getting the impression that the only thing the OP knows is how to post irrelevant links

23. I want you to explain the health care reform bill in 3 simple sentences
You are not capable of doing that. Instead, you have to link to multi-page websites.

Again Informed One, can you explain the health care reform bill IN YOUR OWN WORDS

13. That reads like a mission statement. He's asking for POLICIES not GOALS.
In particular, the "public option" is not open to the public under most current formulations...

A "policy" is the nuts and bolts of how that generalized principle will be accomplished. In your response, you say things like "(r)eform the system to ensure that more than 97% of all Americans are covered,". This is a goal, not a policy.

Furthermore, when you say "offer a public option to keep the insurance companies honest and contain costs," you come across as either a) ignorant of the fact that most Americans will not be eligible for any putative "public option"; or b) dishonest. The link you provide downthread has Howard Dean admitting this:

Q: Do you think everyone should be allowed to participate in the public plan?

Howard Dean: Initially, absolutely not. You can't transition this too fast. You've gotta be careful. If you dump the entire private sector into the public option immediately, I think you'd have chaos, and that's not what we want.

So, again, saying having a "public option" is part of the plan is a great statement of general principles. But for a person passively aggressively calling those who disagree with you "uninformed", you really don't seem to have followed a lot of the details of the debate. :hi:

The OP only seems to know links, and nothing else.

If you don't have links, then you must be an "uninformed progressive"

34. "A "policy" is the nuts and bolts of how that generalized principle will be accomplish."
Did you notice that no such request was in the posters statement?

Do you often confuse brief summaries with "nuts and bolts"?

Also, that statement by Dean addresses the participation rate for the public option. It says nothing about it not being in the plan.

you agreed to answer in specifics (btw, I notice that you aren't shy about rapid fire postings of inanities, but you have 1001 excuses for why you cannot post any specifics.)

At any rate, there was a name for this behavior on another message board I used to frequent. I think we've teased out all you have to offer on this subject, and I'm not interested in dancing with you any longer. :hi:

The fact that you can't answer the question when asked shows how weak your knowledge is. Your response that it wasn't what was originally asked for is a dodge which proves you can't answer the question.

...but there are enough of them to shingle a barn. Otherwise one would not have to explain, repeatedly, that Obama can't replace Harry Reid as majority leader, that opposing health care reform isn't 'treason', that the teabaggers and birthers are idiots, but not practicing sedition, that all European countries don't have single-payer, etc. etc.

A lot of people's enthusiasms get the better of them.

It's possible to not be overly politically aware or informed of the issues and still have left-of-centre views, especially in light of what qualifies as left of centre in America. Tons of people like this here in Canada.
