I bought the staples that I usually get at Whole Foods at Trader Joe's today. I usually shop at both, but that of course ended this week.

I compared the prices of what I bought at both stores and Trader Joe's was a much better deal.

This is great. Fewer stops and more money in my pocket.

Thanks, Mr. Mackey!

That's why 'Whole Foods' is called 'Whole paycheck'. Great food but EXPENSIVE
Trader Joes is way cheaper

Are you referring to during the U.S. invasion of Iraq? Or are you referencing the attempted divest-from-Israel boycott of Trader Joe's that supposedly started in France? I hadn't heard the former and nothing is turning up in a quick search. I know when Americans were called on by idiot O'Lielly to boycott Spain, I purposefully hit TJ's to buy Manchego and Spanish wine. And it was good.

9. Oh I know...
Being French this was the place I could find some very typical French products, and not just Laughing Cow cheese, but a lot of very French brands.

Right during the whole "Boycott France" thing, all of these products disappeared and when I asked the manager he looked at me in disgust and told me TJ would not sell French products for a while then turned his back at me.

It was also reported on Miquelon.org by other French or francophile customers of TJ around the country.

Apparently the entire chain was asked to remove French products, either to actively condemn France's refusal to rubber stamp the lunatic Iraq campaign, or by pure cowardice and not get criticized by their other customers.

Friends of mine who ran a French bakery in Phoenix saw their business decrease by about 75% so much that the wife had to go work in France for a while the husband tried his best to remain in business. And they were also confronted by the same type of folks as you see in those town hall meetings.

12. I can find nothing about this on the Internet.
You seem to be a lone voice on this, so I'm going to call this hearsay.

3. And I shopped at my local co-op
better all around than Whole Foods, which isn't around here anyway. Even when I lived in DFW, I preferred the local co-ops and mom-pop stores to WF.

4. Trader Joes has everything
Love them, and lately I've been going to Costco for nuts - prices are much better there than TJ's

I will admit to one purchase I have made at whole foods - they have better cous cous than TJ's, but I can probably find that at Bristol Farms.

buh-buy whole foods!

5. I ate at the fair today. $6 for a gyro with feta and extra meat and $2 for a cola.
Not cheapest meal, and I ate it at a dirty picnic table, but it was still pretty tasty.

27. May I make a suggestion. When you are giving a link to send comments, please
give the link to the comments page. It took me 5 min to find the comment page. I admit I may be slow, but it would certainly help your cause to provide the link to the comment page. Like this:

33. That is an understatement.
Also, some pretty stupid people....they have smoked a couple of brain cells..

Two dudes with big ass backpacks were surrounded by 5 or 6 cops, well come to find out the dumbasses had huuuuuuuge quantities of maryjane and were selling it like a vendor...no really they were. Idiots...

A lot of the clothing was pretty neat. I actually liked the feel of the hemp shirts.

TP, cat litter, kleenex.

Food, not so much. I will hit the organic produce now and then.

Lots of options out there.

Whole Foods, not anymore.

18. The fact that so many here can afford Whole foods
just boggles my mind that place is rediculously overpriced. Makes me wonder if the econamy is as bad as its made out to be or if people are just pissing and moaning cause they cant afford to shove their cash down the drain as fast as they used to.

20. Eh, different people piss away money differently. I like high test gasoline.
I'd rather eat average food and buy good gasoline than the other way around. Doesn't make sense, doesn't have to.

21. I'd rather spend money on good food than on health care due to eating poor food.
I don't shop at Whole Foods because their labor policies suck, and I have better (and cheaper) local alternatives. But I wouldn't be caught dead eating most of the swill conventional grocers sell.

boycotting one anti-union CEO by running to do business with another anti-union CEO (who donated to McCain).

32. Most big companies in retail are anti-union and donated to McCain. And many to Obama...
...to hedge their bets. Good luck not patronizing one.

This company's CEO came out as publicly and individually to beat corporate war drums against it's customers' and Americans' best interests.

He painted a target on his forehead.

at a natural foods co-op and can buy whatever I want at a discount and we're non profit.

I have traveled around the country though and have gone into whole foods in different states but no more.

And, they won't be on Kaua'i where I'll be moving back to next year..but Costco is and my son and his wife love it.

With a small greek salad. Then I tried to see that District 9, but it started at 10:30, so I got a Starbucks and went home.

No reason to tell you this, but I thought I'd share.
