GREATER MEDIA Talk WTKK (96.9 FM TALK)/BOSTON host and former BOSTON GLOBE columnist MIKE BARNICLE will fill in for DON IMUS when IMUS serves his two-week suspension for his comments last week about the RUTGERS women's basketball team.

BARNICLE, who lost his GLOBE job due to accusations of plagiarism, has been a frequent guest on IMUS' show and has had his own trouble with racial comments on his show, having to apologize for using the term "mandingo" to refer to the interracial marriage of former Secretary of Defense WILLIAM COHEN and former WCVB-TV/BOSTON "GOOD DAY" host JANET LANGHART.

All they're looking for is controversy, not something to inform the listeners. But, I never listened to Imus or any other talk radio bobblehead, so it's no loss to me that the replacement is another shrill voice on the airwaves.
