They think they are the majority, but the moderates and the "blue dogs" know better. They know that the far left and the liberals are a very small minority within the Party. So, when they take their final votes, it will be the liberals that are left out in the cold.

The "liberals" probably think they had a big role to play in Obama winning the last election? And with the fact that he was able to raise over $700 million dollars for his campaign? They don't realize that it was the majority "blue dogs" and moderates that put Obama into office.

If the small liberal wing of the Party cannot get with the program, they will have to be left behind when the "blue dogs" pass their version of health care. It's really painful to know that you are such a small and non-influential group. Your only choice is to follow whatever the majority of the Party wish to vote for. Just like the last time...

4. liberals are also activists, who put their feet on the ground, and help get people elected

It's still true,
that if questioned in a non-bias poll, a much greater percentage of Americans would appear liberal.
That's what wedge issues are for, to distance people from their own better interests, and these days, you can concoct an issue out of thin air, and it can have a real effect. The wedges keep people from realizing how much they have in common. And human values are liberal values.

5. If most of the country thought like the Republican side did.

It would be just for it to collapse.

Parts of society that do better to treat most of their citizens with respect and dignity deserve a better economy and better outcomes. I also think those that do worse deserve certain things, food, health, security, and opportunities to improve themselves and society, but it is hard to defend that America is the best, when it does far less then other societies that it criticizes.

Although I think America is pretty good, and people can make a difference. And they are not just a label like liberal or conservative, they are also what they think should be done, and what they do.(at least on the topics where they have the information to understand what they choose.)

You say, "So, when they take their final votes" are you speaking about America or your view of how politicians will vote?
