... hardware, archive disks, laptops, blackberry's, etc. They need to get the systems, not printouts or CDs or whatever ...

I hope the IT folk advising them realize that that is what they need and unless Rover and his scumbuddies at the RNC have had some really skillful folk cleansing all that hardware it will not be difficult to view every bit those chubby little fingers have typed.

7. Then they should pass a law giving them the authority or send the Capitol Hill Police ...
.... this isn't a joke and the Congress must impound all electronic devices used by RNC and White House personnel who used RNC mail and file server systems. It is a National Security Issue and a Constitutional Crisis Issue of the first order.

19. Yes, I agree that they should do all they can to get it
But of course if they pass such a law it will be vetoed, and I don't know that they have the votes to over-ride it.

I think that they ought to demand access to the computers, and if it's refused, that should be clear grounds for impeachment. Bush is not King, he's just a pResident. Our Constitution gives oversight responsibilty to Congress, and if the pResident puts himself above the Constitution then Congress has the authority to impeach him and remove him from office. I don't know what the hell they're waiting for. I just hope that all this lack of movement on impeachment means that they're waiting for the right moment. But I'm beginning to lose hope that that's the case.

... surviving until 2009. I only see President Nancy Pelosi before the beginning of 2008!

Impeach Bush, Cheney, Gonzales and Rice is the only mantra I alow myself to consider.

Obviously there's something majorly wrong with the system if the Executive branch is untouchable.

I see that it was the FBI, so that must mean the DoJ.

I would bet both parties have a sophisticated method of dealing with this situation.

25. ABSOLUTELY AGREE. . .GET THE HARD DRIVES ASAP DAMMIT
and ideally, every storage device all along the infrastructure including the ISP's postmaster server and backup tapes in Tennessee, the Blackberry.Net servers and backup tapes, and actual PC hard drives and any routers with backup in D.C.

I do not know what the appropriate procedure is under the circumstances, but immediately obtaining these storage devices, through raids if necessary, seems to me to be absolutely necessary to prevent further obstruction through destruction of physical evidence. Congress needs to move WITHOUT ANY DELAY whatsoever.

Thank you,

Rove Purgerer & Perjurer: E-Mails Never Really Disappear Part II

The comments to . So now the RNC is telling Congress that it is missing at least four years' worth of e-mail from Karl Rove. As Santurday Night Live's Church Lady would say, "How convenient. . . ."

Republican officials (courtesy of RNC lawyer Rob Kelner) said they still hope to "find" the e-mail as they conduct forensic work on their computer equipment. Here's what needs to happen immediately:

FIRST, Republican officials should be ordered to immediately cease and desist from conducting further computer forensics on their computers. They've already acknowledged that they had to take actions specifically to prevent Rove, and Rove alone, from deleting his e-mails from the RNC server.

SECOND, get a warrant to seize Rove's computer. There's abundant probable cause that he was deliberately obstructing justice. It's a tacit admission that the RNC undertook its own Karl Purge Prevention Plan in 2005.
