1. Me, too.
He did a wonderful job. The ending was especially beautiful. And no gaffes.

5. I'm sorry, but Joe doesn't make gaffes. He speaks his truth and the media
makes it into a gaffe. He's real.

18. Oh -- I get it. You were "doing" the media --
I'm sorry -- I misinterpreted your meaning. I'm overly sensitive to Joe gaffe remarks. :pals:

4. Me, too
I'm so glad I had a chance to meet him last September when he was in town. He was so warm and down to earth.

Now Caroline is making me cry.

3. Irish sentimentality.
Heartstring puppeteers, the lot of us. Constantly torturing ourselves and everybody else.

 I hadn't heard that one before. If my Boston Irish Catholic dad were alive, he'd love it!!

9. Jesus, that's good.
I've already started to take up the family pastime...and I'm only 32!

I went back and reviewed my Irish grandmother's obit today. 13 years on Sunday. :(

11. Oddly enough, that made me sob.
If my Gramps heard that, he'd be roaring with laughter. His wake was a lot like this one, but a bit more raucous.

19. Well, to perpetuate a stereotype --
the only difference between and Irish wedding and an Irish funeral is one less drunk.

Sending hugs to your gramps.

I assume Gramps is waiting to have a pint with Teddy. He just loved the Kennedy family.

35. Well, he'll have to jostle his way past my dad who convinced himself that
he was actually related to the Kennedys! :7 And probably every other Irish Catholic up there! Man, it'll be raucous!

26. The public wake was less raucous - doesn't the body remain at the
Center overnight. I am betting that the immediate family are not leaving him alone tonight.

29. I believe so.
The mass is tomorrow at 10:30. Gramps' body stayed overnight in his childhood home and then there was a procession that morning to the church for the funeral mass. We all stayed up, watching over Gramps that night.

and therefore, still hope.

Thanks Joe, we needed that.

and true. I have no doubt this younger generation of Kennedys will take the baton handed off by their Uncle Teddy and continue the work.

17. The Vice President was the best speaker of the night imo
Every word seemed to come straight from the heart. My second favorite was his classmate who took the wild sailing ride with him in the Regatta. Good memories of a great man.

23. Thought they all did good
McCain was off a bit, but everyone else spoke from the heart.

Do agree about Biden and Culver (I think) though.

It was a nice ceremony. Uncle Ted would be proud.

25. The sailboart story was priceless
I was surprised at how funny Orin Hatch was. I was ready to fast forward through his speech, but he did an excellent job - that is probably the last compliment I'll give the man.

Of course, I though Joe was the best, but I'm very biased.

32. Joe makes me cry a lot
I even cried while reading his book, could barely get through the chapter about his wife and daughter.

After last year's campaign, I don't ever want to see McCain again. What an annoying, little man.

34. I don't see why McCain is trying so hard to be such a conservative ass
The elections over, he doesn't have to suck up to the lunatic right anymore. He didnt used to be such a bad guy, why can't he just spend his last few years trying to enjoy people and his life like Ted did. Maybe he's still thinking of running again? That's just crazy.

Sometimes it almost seems like he's getting Alzheimers or just cranky old man disease on his way out.

And Joe Biden has a heart of pure gold.
