Compare if you will, the wonderful celebration of life held for
Senator Kennedy. All of us could relate to some important aspect of his amazing life. We all listened with sincere interest to the tributes from important members of Ted's circle of friends and family. It is not over yet and I will continue to watch and feel we have lost our best spokesperson.

For some reason, last night, the funeral of Ronald Reagan came to mind. It was a never ending display overblown hoopla. I cannot think of the real works to describe the difference. I wish everyone the proper tribute at his death. Reagan's was just "over-the-top"

One brought me to tears, the other made me turn off the TV.

8. I never gave a thought to political parties, only to the fact that
I felt Ted Kennedy worked for all of us. The simplicity of his funeral has moved me. Such a man may never walk among us again.

2. maybe the difference you are looking to articulate, and this is as someone who doesn't remember
reagan's... maybe it's authenticity vs fake and manufactured?? the memories being shared by the people on that stage yesterday were authentic, true and moving memories. memories of a beloved man who, from what I am hearing, had the utmost respect for everyone no matter who they were and treated others with dignity.

5. I can't make a comparison.
Reagan had the remarkable good taste to die on the first day of my two week camping vacation. I heard about his death on the road. And that's all I heard about it.

I can only assume that they lied at Reagan's funeral since he was one of the worst Presidents in US history.

6. A Matter Of Perspective
I knew several people (including a few Democrats) who were touched by Raygun's funeral. I couldn't watch it as the lies and the "celebration" of his life had little to do with the world of the 80's I lived in. But I did respect those who mourned his passing. While I couldn't watch that over-the-top coverage, I never got "outraged" about the coverage like others here have.

Senator Kennedy was a touchstone in so many of our lives. He was a constant...a figure of strength and encouragement for nearly 50 years. Raygun never came close to the accomplishments of Senator Kennedy and thus I haven't nor will compare the two.

7. Senator Kennedy's funeral
doesn't need to be like the Raygasm.

The two men really should not be compared.
