Teddy wasn't going to let his friends take heat for politicizing his funeral so . . .
. . .he decided to bring up health care himself. He was not about to let the right wingers attack his friends for bringing up health care so he did it himself:

1) His grandson Max Allen said "Every American will have decent health care as a fundamental right and not a privilege"

2) When the priest read his letter to the Pope, I have no doubt when Teddy planned the funeral this was his way of getting in the last word.

Teddy was probably very conscience of the controversy following the Wellstone funeral and I am confident he planned it this way.

1. Good point. I noticed the grand kids brought it up again at the
burial tonight. It would have been shoddy for any of the political speakers to bring up such details - especially the president - so they were of course not going too - but the family didn't hesitate. Very cool.

2. The Kennedys are such amazing people...
...even after their deaths, they will continue to influence policy and make this country
a better place for "We The People".

It is so heart warming and so beautiful.

Paul Wellstone would have had no problem with his funeral and what his friends said about him and his causes. The evil, sick
people on the right had to stop Wellstone's Progressive ideas from taking root after his death. So, they lambasted anyone
tried to leverage or further Wellstone's politics or ideals--by accusing them of exploiting Wellstone and taking advantage of
his death. What a sick, sick trick. The neocons are very clever.

They'll do anything to extinguish the humanity and hope out of every last one of us. It's the only way their agenda takes hold.

I think Kennedy understood this, and as others are saying--Kennedy made sure that his name would be on the healthcare fight and
he made darn sure that it was very public that this is what he believed and wanted.
