11-year old Kennedy announces for Senate
Posted: August 29th, 2009

(CNN) – For the first time in nearly six decades, it seems likely a Kennedy won't be either representing Massachusetts in the U.S. Senate, or seeking the office. But one member of the legendary political family is already laying plans to reclaim the seat.

He doesn't reside in the state – and won't be constitutionally eligible to run for the office for another 19 years – but on Friday, Sen. Ted Kennedy's 11-year-old grandson announced his candidacy for Senate in 2044.

"I plan to become the senator of Massachusetts when I turn 45," Edward Kennedy III confidently told New England Cable News. Kennedy's grandfather represented the state in the Senate for 47 years. His great-uncle, President John F. Kennedy, served as senator from Massachusetts from 1953 until he won the White House in 1960.

The younger Kennedy also reflected Friday on the loss of his grandfather. "We should be happy for him that he is with his brothers and sisters in heaven, not sad because he's not with us," he said. "Because when we go to heaven, we'll be with him and it will be one big happy family."

1. Why wait until your 45? We need another Kennedy as soon as possible!
Go get 'em, kid! :patriot:

8. I don't think the Constitution would let them swear in an 11 year old, Kennedy or not.
Though I'll bet he'd do a better job than any of the Blue Balled Cowards.

11. Why wait until 45? He can run when he's 30.
However, to be honest, I'd take an 11 year old Kennedy over a middle-aged Blue Dog any day!

I find it both puzzling and amusing that he chose age 45 to become a senator. I wonder what the significance is? Does he plan on achieving something else before then? I wouldn't be a bit surprised if that was the case ... he IS a Kennedy, after all.

Something tells me we haven't heard the last of this young man. :-)

22. Apparently he plans to open a law office first...
...make it a going concern, and then sell it. And after that, run for office.

I know. 11 years old and he's already got it mapped out. The Man With The Plan.

Good luck, Teddy III!!!

He's the kid at the funeral mass who prayed for health care for all Americans.

12. Chip off the old block, that one!
I don't know which kid it was, but did anybody see the little fellow outside the compound before the procession started? He was wearing a blue jacket, shorts and flip flops. Definitely made his own fashion statement! I was ROFL. Too cute!

20. Remarkable Young Man
This says so much about the courage and determination of a strong democratic family. Even though his great uncles met an untimely violent death by the hands of barbaric goons and the daily death threats against Teddys life this brave soul stares history in the eye and says I will continue the Kennedy legacy.

Now I see why so few Americans call themselves Liberal.. .it takes balls to be one.

I know there are some strong thunderstorms headed towards the USA once my bucket of tears evaporates :)

21. I think there are a few lessons I've taken this week with the funeral:
1st: I am a liberal, and I'm not going to apologize for it. Living in FL often makes you keep your head down, and feet moving. No more. I'm not apologizing for it. I shouldn't have to. They don't apologize for being corporate whores to afraid to move forward and rather look back.

2nd: I need to do more for my community. He wasn't a great man just because of his legislative record. He was a great man because he loved to love and showed what loving means. He was America's Uncle Teddy.

3rd: I want healthcare passed even more now than before; because not doing it would let down this man's legacy and his thought about us. We need to fight for it.. just like an election.. just like its the only thing that matters. Drown out the Deather's (or whatever they call themselves) and move this country forward.
