Webcast to be Provided of Karl Rove-Howard Dean Debate
http://www.depauw.edu/news/?id=23916

The first-ever debate between Karl Rove and Howard Dean on a college campus -- set for September 11 at DePauw University -- will be viewable anywhere in the world via the Internet. Mssrs. Dean and Rove have agreed to let the University present a webcast of their Timothy and Sharon Ubben Lecture at DePauw. Video and audio of the program, which begins at 7:30 p.m., will be available via this link and will remain archived for two weeks following the event.

"It's become apparent that interest in this event may likely exceed the capacity of Kresge Auditorium (appoximately 1,400) so we've made provisions to ensure that if anyone can't get in the venue or even can't get to Greencastle, they can still enjoy the proceedings," says Ken Owen '82, executive director of media relations at DePauw and coordinator of the Ubben Lecture Series. "On behalf of our alumni and friends around the world, we thank Karl Rove and Howard Dean for allowing us to webcast their debate."

2. What a silly idea
I know "spectacles" like this are apparently very popular with "the masses" but, to me, it's just demoting anything being addressed into the realm of "entertainment" -- like a WWF show. Partaking in such a farce lessens Dean's standing in my mind. I can understand Rove's participation because this is where his shtick works. But these things are anathema to educated people.

3. Actually the Dean debate with Richard Perle on C-Span was a keeper.
I don't like Perle or Rove, despise them in fact....but that debate was quite interesting.

4. Dean was too easy on Perle
I was in the audience that night. The most amusing part of the evening was when a man ran up from the audience and threw his shoes at Perle, hollering at him.

5. Exactly my point. I don't find anything "amusing" about any of this.
I guess it's just me, but criminals being given a public platform to promote/defend their criminal behavior for the purpose of "entertainment" is, frankly, beneath my station.

7. Sorry That I'm Not Educated Enough For You
Edited on Tue Sep-01-09 07:25 AM by MannyGoldstein
I graduated from an Ivy League school, wrote a successful textbook (30,000+ sold) and lots of published articles, and was teaching my son about quantum physics last night - but *this* uneducated loser is looking forward to Dean laying a beating on that evil fuck Rove.
