Olympic gold medalist, 71, fights off attacker
NOOSAVILLE, Australia -- Dawn Fraser, who won swimming gold medals at three Olympics, fought off and helped capture a man who tried to rob her home north of Brisbane.

The 71-year-old Fraser said Monday the man grabbed her but she fought back.

"This guy came out of the gate and grabbed me and I grabbed him by the ear and I kicked him in the groin," she told several Australian television stations.

"So he had to let me go. He threatened my life and I got really annoyed about that and just grabbed him by the ear and the hair."

She said a male friend made the man lie on his stomach until police arrived on Sunday.

Fraser won eight Olympic medals, including four golds, and held the 100-meter freestyle world record from 1956 to 1972. She won the 100 free at the 1956, 1960 and 1964 Olympics.

He really shouldn't have annoyed her. He should have quit while he was behind.

1. I have been told numerous times that 70 is now like the new 50-55. We took
care of ourselves, at better, had some form of exercise in our lives, etc. That's what they told me and I'm buying it...LOL.
