LOL! - Hong Kong Broker Pulling A "Borat" On Sarah Palin

Palin Speaking Gig a Joke
Sarah Palin's invitation to speak in Hong Kong later this month is part of a practical joke, Business Insider reports.

Hopefully Sarah Palin realizes she's been invited to Hong Kong as a practical joke.

CLSA, the Asia-focused broker who invited Mrs. Palin as keynote speaker
for an Asian investment conference, is well known for their cheeky takes on investment research.

In the past, they've polled Asian fortune tellers for index targets, hired anime cartoonists to draw Japanese research, and generally love to push the boundaries between entertainment and analysis. They are a real research firm, it's just that they love to sprinkle in some hilarity every now and then as a smart marketing gimmick.

Sarah Palin is this year's big laugh for them.

Her invitation as keynote speaker in Hong Kong is so ridiculous that its absurdity can't be accidental.

5. no-show palin_

http://online.wsj.com/article/SB10001424052970204731804574384871209954140.html
Ms. Palin is also almost finished with a book on her 2008 campaign experience and political philosophy. She will soon have time to ponder what Politico.com calls "the inch-and-a-half thick file her lawyer, Robert Barnett, has built of offers for network and cable pundit gigs, documentaries and business opportunities."

If so, one of her first priorities will have to be repairing the reputation she is developing as a no-show. Last week, organizers for an Alaska initiative that would require that parents be notified before any child got an abortion reported that Ms. Palin had agreed to appear at their kickoff event but now wouldn't show. Ms. Palin's staff insists she wasn't invited, and that she was out of the state.

Normally, such incidents can be put down to a "she-said, they said" kind of dispute. But the Alaska no-show marked the fourth time in recent months that an anticipated Palin speech had fallen through because her staff insisted she had never confirmed it. Here's hoping Washington Speakers Bureau, which apparently already is booking events for her (see last item below), will now be able to minimize the crossed signals.

10. "Palin probably doesn't know what she's in for. "
Really? I mean, I know she's not the brightest bulb in the store. But c'mon. If you're already reporting it's a practical joke, she just might ctach on.

12. I doubt it - Palin suffers from "legend in her own mind" syndrome
She never had a clue that she wasn't talking to Sarkosky in that fake interview, not even when they praised her for "appearing" in a flick called "Nailing Palin". Not even the slightest hint in her voice that of realization no matter how obvious those pranksters made it.

Will be interesting to see just how dim her wattage is - yeah, everyone is reporting this to be a prank. But now she is without any real handlers or advisors, so we get to see just how she processes what she is hearing.
