Now I'm ashamed.
Dear Christopher,

Our boycott of Glenn Beck's advertisers on FOX News has been a huge success. Beck was forced to take a week off and lost 50 brand advertisers, leaving just a few self-destructive companies that want to lose all their customers. If you haven't yet, please tell them to cancel their ads:

It's important to vote with our wallets against those who tell lies. But it's also important to vote with our wallets for those who tell the truth. And there is no greater truth-teller in America today than David Swanson, whose first book Daybreak was published today.

Air America host Thom Hartmann says, "Daybreak offers a powerful and compelling picture of what real change in America could look like. The world needs more true advocates of democracy like David Swanson!"

Right now, Glenn Beck's latest screed is #1 on the Amazon political bestseller list , while Michelle Malkin's attack on President Obama is #2. David Swanson's book just reached #4. Can you cast a vote of $13.57 to push David Swanson's book past them and to the top of the bestseller list?

I proudly admit that I'm biased. Swanson is the Washington Director of Democrats.com, and fights tirelessly for the causes we care about most: single-payer healthcare, ending the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, holding former Bush Administration officials accountable for their war crimes, and ending the Imperial Presidency that Bush and Cheney left behind.

Swanson is also co-founder of AfterDowningStreet.org, creator of ConvictBushCheney.org, and a board member of Progressive Democrats for America.

Swanson just launched his national book tour. I hope you'll meet him at an event near you:

And in the meantime, I hope you'll vote for real progressive change - and against Glenn Beck - by buying Daybreak today.

Thanks for all you do!

Bob Fertik

My Reply:

YOUR boycott? Puhlease.

Credit where credit is due, lest we become like THEM - taking credit for anything that works and denying involvement in anything that fails.

This boycott is the work of ColorofChange.org, and minimizing their efforts won't gain you any friends.

The best way to beat the assholes is to act opposite. You're not doing that.

By the way, David Swanson is one of our best advocates, please stop using his good name to fly your disingenuous flag.

Face it, you want MONEY.

1. Ummmm
"By the way, David Swanson is one of our best advocates, please stop using his good name to fly your disingenuous flag."

I hate to say so, but since 3/4 of the email you quote is about David Swanson's new book, it's what I'd call marketing. I don't know what else you could call it...perhaps they got a little over-enthusiastic on behalf of their friend. I like the way that purchasing it is a blow against Glenn Beck though.

2. There CAN be more than one organization promoting the same CAUSE
Democrats.com sent out an email Aug. 10 to help with the Boycott.

Tell FOX News advertisers to cancel their ads:
http://www.democrats.com/boycott-fox-news-advertisers

Here are some examples of intolerable hate speech and incitement to violence:

6/30/09 Glenn Beck agreed with guest who urged bin Laden to attack U.S. with nuclear weapons.

7/25/09 Neil Cavuto and guest said health care reform will impose universal euthanasia like "Soylent Green."

7/28/09 Glenn Beck said "The President has exposed himself as a guy .. who has a deep-seated hatred for white people ... or the white culture... This man is a racist."

8/6/09 Glenn Beck "joked" about giving Speaker Pelosi a glass of wine with poison.

We join with FoxNewsBoycott and other groups in this boycott, which is already producing outstanding results.

"By the way, David Swanson is one of our best advocates, please stop using his good name to fly your disingenuous flag."

Perhaps you missed this part of the email: "I proudly admit that I'm biased. Swanson is the Washington Director of Democrats.com, and fights tirelessly for the causes we care about most: single-payer healthcare, ending the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, holding former Bush Administration officials accountable for their war crimes, and ending the Imperial Presidency that Bush and Cheney left behind."

Is your reply the reason you feel ashamed?!?
