OK, This is your LAST CHANCE!!!!- Call FOR THE PUBLIC OPTION!
Edited on Tue Sep-08-09 05:10 PM by Capn Sunshine
This excellent video by Robert Reich makes it pretty clear, everyone: Last chance to save the public option.

Call your representatives now. Call any representative you donated to. Call your friends and neighbors and ask them to call too. DC, and the Obama Administration, knows what works, and this simple act by you will make all the difference in this debate.
Call this number and ask to speak with your Representative: (202) 224-3121
Then go to Jane Hamsher's site firedoglake and click on the link there on the right to let her know you did it.

This is too important to leave to just the activists. We need as much of the population as possible to do this, to counter the billions spent ginning up the right wing freakshow.

please. :hi:

2. And threaten to campaign against them if they don't vote for
'true' HCR (public option), since their 'job' seems to be more important to them than the people.

3. Yeah, I think if there were those who saw a primary fight coming
they'd think twice about this bullshit

5. But so far the threat of a primary fight is hollow. They know that it is almost impossible
to lose in a primary. We need to figure out how to end that. Until we do, they arent threatened.

6. not true- a primary costs money and time
even if they win, they spent a bundle that could have been better served in the general.

7. Yes that's the dream, but reality is that it is very difficult to get money to fund
a primary challenger and the Democratic Party wont help. In fact many politicians wont run against an incumbent for fear of pissing off the Party. It is very rare when a incumbent Democrat loses in a primary.

10. The Lieberman model is proof enough
we beat everyone in every machine, including party machines with funding from Unions, MoveOn and the internet. The threat is real, our actions speak for themselves, and while the rseult wasn't what we wanted, we made Lieberman wake up and smell the coffee.

11. Wow, poor Lieberman. He gets 6 more years in the Senate, exactly what he wanted,
but you say he has to "smell the coffee". Actually I am glad you brought him up. Here is a case where the grass roots dared to cross the Democratic Party machine. They managed to find a rich challenger so they didnt have to get big money on their side. Then they defied the Party and "primaried" Joe. But, guess what. The good ole boy's club got the last laugh. All the efforts of the uppity grassrooters and all of Lamonts money couldn't keep Liarman out of the Senate. The only case I can remember where a Senator was "primaried" and he still gets in office. I bet he laughs his head off every time he "smells the coffee".

13. say what you will, he spent millions, and LOST his party's nom
there's an object lesson there if you're willing to consider it.
He spent MILLIONS
he LOST and had to scramble. Now he's a pariah.

14. Was it his money that was spent? Lamont spent a lot of his own money.
It that's what it's going to take, it may be hard to find the next Lamont.

As far as being a pariah, he is still in the Senate. He made his goal.

My point is that Lieberman is the exception that proves the rule. I would love to see some incumbents unseated, but until we have a plan, it won't happen.

9. Petition here
"We have been told we cannot do this by a chorus of cynics. It will only grow louder. We’ve been asked to pause for a reality check. We’ve been warned against offering the people of this nation false hope. But in the unlikely story of America, there’s never been anything false about hope." - Barack Obama

PETITION TO PRESIDENT OBAMA: "We worked so hard for real change. President Obama, please demand a strong public health insurance option in your speech to Congress. Letting the insurance companies win would not be change we can believe in."
