Saxby Chambliss wants Obama to know his place
Translation for this: "We all down here don't cotton to bein' talked down to by uppity negroes."

http://tpmlivewire.talkingpointsmemo.com/2009/09/chambliss-obama-better-show-humility-in-speech-to-congress.php?ref=fpblg

Sen. Saxby Chambliss (R-GA) said today that, because of angry town hallers and the like, President Obama should show "humility" when he speaks to Congress Wednesday night.

"What you're seeing is folks on my side anxious to see what the president has to say tomorrow night," Chambliss said. "I think he's gonna have to express some humility based on what we've seen around the country this August and that's not his inclination."

2. Perhaps Mr. Chambliss, you might show him what humility is through example?
Like, how about showing some yourself before you demand that your betters do it.

30. Saxby is full of himself, or playing poker, or whatever, but not without logic.

Chambliss might well feel that he proved Obama to be a one trick pony, and until something comes along to prove otherwise, then it would be more accurate to call this a dare.

Chambliss nearly lost his election, when Obama was on the ticket and drawing to the polls what some strategists might now see as single issue voters. In the run-off election, those voters didn't show up, and Chambliss won. What part of this is up for argument?

If the Republicans can obstruct and delay long enough, they will have accomplished their goal of making the Democratic comeback (or the first black president if you like) a dud. Going into 2012, Obama won't have the quest for an historic election in his favor, First Black President will have already been done. The dynamic will have shifted considerably, and while he might have some diehard core voters (issue or race) he'll have lost the important voters who actually decide elections. Who he will have lost them to isn't really relevant. He might lose 5% to the Nader vote returning to the unelectable bit noble cause, and another 5% to the Republicans, or he might just lose a small but critical margin across the board.

The Democrats need cred going into 2010 and on to 2012, and we aren't going to get it with the miserable health care package they say is likely to be the winner, or the cap & trade bill which even most liberals don't support when they find out the particulars. Exactly what will be the bragging rights? We got out of Iraq and Afghanistan? We pissed off Israel?

Chambliss is many things, a fool he is not.

3. Who does he think he is?
Saxby needs to learn his place and not think that he can tell someone else how they should act.

He appears to have an awful lot to be humble about.

Starting with his name. Jesus Christ who would ever name a kid "Saxby"?

6. I was listening to KGO's Ray Taliaferro a few days ago...
... when a very wise-sounding elderly African-American man phoned in. He had this one thing to say about the Becks, the Limbaughs and the rest of the mostly RW media:

"Hell, Ray, why don't they just come out and call Obama a n****r... 'cause that's what they all mean."

What a loud-mouthed racist ass. Did they ever expect humility from Bush? Hell no, they smiled and guffawed when Cheney told the ranking member of the Senate Judiciary Committee (Sen. Leahy) to F--- off.

And just in case anyone misinterprets the title line: :sarcasm:

The same Saxby Chambliss that has blocked the nomination of Cass Sunstein?
http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2009/06/29/cass-sunstein-nomination_n_222196.html

He had the unmitigated gall to even allow the word "humility" thru his lips?

I cannot believe he has not been struck by lightning yet.

14. The one who should have shown humility was Chimpy McSmirker
and he swaggered around like the King of Turd Island.

In that he tried to turn our country into Turd Island, he might not have been far off the mark... still, Kings shouldn't swagger like that - it's unbecoming.

...as Dubya did after the 2000 election.

Or after Dubya's failure to prevent the 9/11 attacks.
