Does the GOP hate the left for our freedoms?
What else can we conclude? The left stands for American ideals set out in the Constitution: "We the People...".

The Statue of Liberty pledges to help the tired and the poor.

We believe in freedom of information, freedom of thought, and equality for all.

Yet the gop hates us. They must hate our freedom.

1. The GOP and the neolib Dems have always hated the left...
These are people who have been willing to arm and fund religious wackos to bring down one of the few societies that implemented true gender equality and universal literacy.

2. They hate themselves. So they are incapable of loving anything.

3. correction: they hate EVERYBODY for their freedoms
They will talk about Freedom of Speech, but be the first to shout people down for expressing an unpopular viewpoint.

Ever wear something which society thinks is not cool or otherwise try to buck the system and be yourself? I think fear and resentment - why should YOU get to be yourself when THEY had to capitulate to authority? - are the reasons you will be attacked, literally or figuratively. I'm serious, and while I think it is more rampant and systemic among conservatives, it's a wider problem than that.

You're gay? How dare you try to love someone society says you should not love? Back in line.

You're a vegetarian? How dare you make a choice which makes me question my own choices, even if you don't say a peep to me? Back in line and eat a steak.

You're an atheist or a non-Christian? You're going to hell, don'tcha know? Sure, you're technically allowed in America, but they'll remind you who's in charge as much as possible.

You're bisexual or transexual? Shit, even some of your gay friends might give you a hard time. Back in line.

You aren't having a beer with us? How dare you make us look like we're a bunch of drunks.

They don't hate our freedom, they hate our ability and decisions to express our freedoms: the ability to look toward the future and our fellow humans, and the strength to hold our heads up above the herd and look around. Hell, they even admit it with that "hate the sin, love the sinner" BS they peddle - you're allowed to be gay (or whatever), but please bottle it up and keep it in the closet and pray it away instead of actually acting on it.

To them, freedoms (with the exception of the 2nd Amendment of course) exist only to be displayed as a trophy, not something to actually DO.

4. They hate that we "question their authority"
They have all the answers and anyone that thinks differently is their enemy...

6. They hate us for our sex....
It keeps them up at night thinking that we might be having a good time (it is against their Calvinistic, puritanical belief). That's why they fight against having the pill, abortions, marijuana reform, liberal narcotics laws for terminal illnesses, euthanasia and health care. God help you should you eat bread that you cannot afford or did not make yourself. And God forbid we sinners live a comfortable life free from suffering and pain.

8. I'm not even sure they can admit they like it when they are having sex either
then again, they cheat so much, the guilt is probably hard to deal with.

9. The sex...
Edited on Wed Sep-09-09 01:36 PM by AnneD
has to be forced-it makes them feel less guilty-that explains all the weird porn that passes for 'literature' in GOP 'intellectual' circles. And sex (male or female) outside your marriage doesn't count as sex, just like oral sex doesn't count as sex because there was no penetration. They all need a good long session with Dr. Ruth.
