Wish us luck in SoCal for the next few days - Santa Ana winds blowing, fires starting again.
Cal Fire is now reporting a brush fire between Fillmore and Moorpark in Ventura Co, 300+ acres, spreading rapidly, heading south ahead of 50+mph winds.

It's a blast furnace out there today, supposed to be 103F+.

to stay out of harm's way..and for those Santa Anas to stop. If only there was some way to keep the fires from ever starting especially when the hot winds are Blowing!

3. The air conditioner exploded over the weekend.
Shook the windows and everything. I'm glad nothing dangerous happened as a result, because we back up to a very dry hiking trail.

It's hitting 85F in the house and the air conditioner guy isn't coming until Thursday. Ew.

37. Wow...
For someone who speaks such plain English, you sure are misunderstood... LOL! And there are three dots in a proper ellipsis, unless it ends a sentence... then there are four... with the final dot being the period....

Some people prefer a space ... followed by the ellipsis, and another space before the sentence continues. Some prefer to put the ellipsis smack-dab up against the word... then a space, followed by the remaining words. Both are correct according to The Elements of Style, and The Gregg Reference Manual.

But you knew that, I'm sure:)

Glass houses:)

Little pictures:)

14. On the bright side, apparently this same area burned just 3 years ago, so
there isn't the heavy brush buildup like we saw with the Station Fire.

But the wind can wreak real havoc, especially if it gets down onto housing tracts.

No fire here..but they were out there in force, and are ready to go again..

33. oh no... here we go again ...
Edited on Tue Sep-22-09 06:16 PM by AsahinaKimi

I asked my best friend in LA if the fires were out. She said "for now.." and so here we go again..
Three years of drought, vegetation like a tinder box, people throwing cigarette butts out their car windows...The air already choked with car fumes, and other kinds of pollutants.. and the start of a new fire season. Not to mention, these fires ..in the winter, after rain storms, cause mud slides..

Seems things just get worse and worse for LA. I lived in Santa Barbara for a while, and have seen mudslides but only heard about the fires there. Moving back to the Bay Area, at least we have better weather and air quality..though I have heard Santa Cruz recently had a bad fire..and of course there was one in the Oakland Hills. This State has gone though so much lately.. its terrible!
